Greetings UUAA Men and Veterans+ folks…
Yesterday, I spoke with Joe Penzien and his wife Rae Oviatt at the year-end UUAA Celebration. Joe is doing ok and slowly recovering from brain surgery. and is trying to get their house ready for an important home inspection.
The inspection is related to an upcoming custody hearing re. Joe’s 3 children
My understanding is it’s not a lot of actual work. However, Joe has shared that have a couple people working alongside hime would help keep him focused and on task. Some things like lifting and moving furniture are strictly against doctors orders. He's not to be doing anything that will increase his blood pressure. A few of you know exactly what I’m talking about there.
So...what needs doing? Two projects…
Interior Painting
1) Move furniture out of room(s) to be painted.
2) Prep for painting (drop cloth / tape off)
3) Paint & cleanup
4) Minutes furniture back
Flooring (install new laminate)
1) Move furniture out of room(s)
2) Remove “a little bit” of old flooring
3) Prep for laying new flooring
4) Lay new laminate
5) Move furniture back
Joe and Raw will provide all of the materils.
I don't know if Joe, and/or Rae* will come to Men’s Night Out at Casey’s Tavern this Thursday, June 12 at 7. But if they could, it would be a good time to coordinate. If weather permits, we'll sit outside on the back deck.
IF you have a bit of time to volunteer, I'm sure they would greatly appreciate your help. Hope to see some of you Thursday at 7pm at Casey’s.
Please ask questions, or volunteer, directly with Rae and/or Joe (emails above). Thanks.
Warmly,
Larry
PS. Please note… Veterans+ includes both and women. If both genders show up at Casey’s, we can either meet in 2 separate groups, bend the invitation slightly or excommunicate me 🤪.
PPS. For those who choose to help out, and if I'm not excommunicated, I'll buy you a beer or a pint. Just sayin'.
