Why don't you post this question in the Oracle Primavera EVM User community? Determine if Primavera P6 16.1 or later is actually supported by Oracle on High Sierra, and what other Oracle products must be installed to fullfill the proper Primavera P6 installation.
Primavera P6 Professional is regarded as the standard for high-performance, project management software. P6 is designed to handle all types of schedules and projects, regardless of their size, type, or sophistication. The program can be used to organize portfolios and projects with up to 100,000 activities, unlimited resources, and unlimited target plans.
If you are thinking about implementing Primavera P6 Professional as your project management solution, you may want to get a chance to use the program before purchasing a license. Oracle allows you to download Primavera P6 for free as a trial version that can be used for up to 30 days. This can be especially helpful if you sign up for a P6 training course as you may need to already have the program installed on your computer. A free trial can be a great option to utilize during your class.
With a free trial version of P6, you can choose to setup the program with either an SQL Server or a SQLite database. In a previous article, I went over these two types of databases in depth, but in short:
The program that you select will be added to your delivery queue. Near the top of the screen, you can select View Items to make sure you selected the correct program. Then, select Continue.
The Oracle Standard Terms and Restrictions will open. You will want to read the full license agreement, and then check the box acknowledging that you have reviewed and accepted the Oracle License Agreement.
The next screen will open the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud Survey. You can choose to fill this out if you wish, but this is not mandatory. To exit out of the survey, press the Feedback button.
At the bottom of your browser, a .exe file will have been downloaded to your computer. You can also find this file in your Downloads folder. Again, this file name will vary depending on the version of P6 downloaded, but for me this file was called Oracle_SSN_DLM_11042111.exe. Open this file by either double clicking on it in the Downloads section of your browser or your Downloads folder.
In the Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders window, choose a destination to extract the folder to. By default, it will be the location that the zipped folders were originally saved to. Then, press Extract.
Next, we will do the same thing for the zipped application folder. The application folder will contain a folder within it called P6_Pro_RD2012 (again, these numbers may vary). Once that folder is located, right click on it and select Extract All.
The last screen will allow you to adjust the Database Location, which is the location on your computer that the database will be saved. If you need to adjust this, select the ellipses to browse for a new location.
There is also the option to Load sample data. With this option checked, P6 will be preloaded with sample projects, resources, calendars, and other global and project-specific data. I find this data to be very useful, especially for new users of P6, so I recommend keeping this option checked.
You can now open up Primavera P6 Professional. The program should be available from your Windows toolbar. If you have trouble finding the program, you can use the Search in the Windows toolbar to search for P6.
Hi!
Where are you recieving the invalid username/password? While logging into Oracle or into P6 Professional?
Either way, it would have to do with you entering in a different username/password than originally entered.
I HOPE I WILL BE ABLE TO FIND SOMEONE HERE THAT CAN HELP ME. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A WINDOWS 7 LAPTOP AND I HQVE BEEN TRYING TO DOWNLOAD PRIMAVERA P6 TO MY LAPTOP BUT IT'S COMING UP WITH THE MESSAGE-----'' SQL DATABASE INCOMPATIBLE'' THEN AT THE END HAS AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT SAYS CONNECTION UNSUCCESSFUL....
Thanks for getting back. I will try and give you as much information as possible.. I have got a Windows 7 Home premuim laptop and a primavera p6 software.. I tried downloading the software in standalone mode.. it takes me through the normal procedures then it tries connecting with the Sql server database...(i am assuming the Sql server of the computer). then a message pops up'' sql server not compatible with the software'' and gives me the option of checking for possible solutions on line.. which came back as having no info.. the download continues after that to the very end...which you are supposed to get a ''connection successful''... but i get an error message saying ''connection failed---Error FFFF''
Am not particularly sure if i wil need to get an sql server/database compatible with this particular software as it installed quite easily in standalone mode with a friend that has a windows XP.. if so... would i have to unistall all servers on my Windows 7 before installing an ''XP like server''. Sorry i can't really help you with all the technical terms but i hope you understand what i am trying to say..
When it comes to installing Primavera v6, I can't picture the installer off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure it has the option to run a "Custom" installation instead of standard or default options.
The main thing is to ignore the SQL application part, but to make sure the actual database is installed (a file). You'll then have the database server and the Primavera software installed on your PC and that's half the battle...
It is a bit more difficult to run you through the next part without going through dozens of possible scenarios/steps depending on what you do with the installation, but if you get that far feel free to reply here and I'll get back to you as soon as I can (or someone else probably will be able to talk through "attaching a database" in SQL Express)...
Thanks once again... Yes it does have custom install.. would you advise i use that and just one final question.. Do i have to install any sql on my PC at the moment before i install the once's that you have recommended. Looking forward to your reply... and i will also let you know if i encounter any further problems..

It's better to follow the custom installation if you know exactly what parts you need and where you need to put them, but in this case, the version of SQL Express (I assume) which is packaged up with the installer, is not compatible with the version of Windows you're using, so you'll basically need to replace it.
You shouldn't need any other SQL tools installed once you've installed the software from the link I gave earlier, and you should manage to get Primavera installed if you can bypass the part where the package looks to install its own SQL tools.
after p6 & sql installation, once I specify the host and the database, the program autofills the user & password (e.g. pmdb & *****). What's password? where it has come from? and is there a way to change it?
Thanks for the advice. I have the same problem. As you said I installed both P6 & SQL. Kindly let me know how to configure the database. Where can I find the hostname, database name. Its returning a message " bad public ...."
An old thread, but I am experiencing the same problem when moving my P6.1 from a Windows 7 32bit computer (runs fine) to a new Windows 7 64bit computer. Have tried different versions of SQL to no avail.

Hello,
I am new to Oracle. However, my business asked me to purchase and setup primavera P6 on premise. Not sure if this is the right category, but I couldn't find a better category and am hoping that a moderator will move the question if it needs ot be moved.
Anyway, I've got sql, WebLogic, java, and primavera installed. I can now sign into primavera with my admin account via the web page. I can sign into "Primavera P6" and "Primavera P6 administrator". I have a few questions about next steps...
1). I thought that there was a workstation install that I can put on the users computers. My understanding is that they will then be able to work on that client software (instead of going through the web browser) and connect to the server, keeping the databases on the server, but running the client software locally. Where do I get that software?
2). Can I setup LDAP authentication (so the user can use their active directory account) without breaking the NATIVE way that I currently sign in? I see the option in the admin page, but wanted to doublecheck that I won't lock myself out.
Scenario 1: Attempting to install an upgraded version of P6 into a new EPPM home directory without removing the existing P6 EPPM installation causes the following error:
OUI-10245: You are attempting to install 'Primavera P6 EPPM' into '/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/P6EPPM_3'. However, a previous version is already installed at '/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/P6EPPM_2'. Only one version of the software may be installed on the system at a time. You may either deinstall the previous version or upgrade the older version by installing the new version in the same location as the old version.
