Hello TU ACM members! I hope you all had a relaxing break!

I am excited to report that the ACM is putting on a new online programming competition open to everybody with a free ACM web account. The competition involves a game which pits AI-controlled teams against each other in a snowball fight.

We will be having a meeting this Monday, January 17 at 6pm in L1 to determine interest levels and teams, so please attend if you are interested. If you are unable to make it but want to know more, Alex Ruff (alexand...@utulsa.edu) is the man to contact.

Have a fun and productive weekend!

Today's Topic: acmqueue Launches New Online Programming Challenge
Thursday, January 13, 2011

ACM's website for practitioners, acmqueue, has launched a new online programming contest based on the annual ACM International Collegiate Programming Competition (ICPC). The challenge follows last year's successful event, and is open to all. The acmqueue ICPC Challenge closes at midnight Greenwich Mean Time on February 6, 2011.

The new acmqueue programming contest features a game called Icy Projectile Challenge, which invites participants to code "players" in C++, C#, Java, or Python to compete against other programmers using source code only, no executables. Players have one month to develop their players, and can compete against preliminary players, checking for nightly updates of standings.

A double elimination tournament follows the coding phase to determine the top four places. Final standings and all matches are available for viewing at the queue website.

To participate, register for a free ACM Web account.

If you have an ACM Web account, sign in and submit your files.

Final standings and all tournament matches are available for viewing.
