Realty companies Assotech and Supertech have formed a 50:50 joint
venture to build a five-star hotel in the industrial town of Rudrapur
in Uttarakhand, which would be managed by US-based Carlson Group as
Radisson Hotel Metropolis.
'The Radisson brand focuses on developing great hotels in
strategically important locations. India has been our priority and our
association with Assotech and Supertech will help us to make a mark in
the country,' K.B. Kachru, executive vice-president of Carlson Hotels
Asia-Pacific, told reporters at a press conference here Thursday.
'Currently we operate 34 hotels in the country. By 2010 we will have
60 hotels. Out target will be the mid-luxury segment,' said Kachru.
The 120-room Rudrapur hotel will come up in two years along with a
shopping mall and will be spread across 4.7 acres.
'The hotel and shopping mall are a part of an integrated project of a
50-acre township coming up in Rudrapur. The investment for the hotel
will be around Rs.5.5 crore (Rs.55 million) and around Rs.10 billion
for the entire campus,' said Sanjeev Srivastava, managing director of
Assotech Ltd.
Radisson Hotel Metropolis in Rudrapur will cater to demands of
industries coming up in Kumaon.
'There are lots of industries coming up in the Kumaon region. The
trend is clearly indicating that Rudrapur is the most sought after
Tier-II city in the future. The hotel will be part of the Metropolis
City that we are currently working on in Rudrapur,' said R.K. Arrora,
managing director of Supertech Ltd.
