IT'S HERE! ...SNAKE OIL: How Big Energy's Misleading Promise of Plenty Imperils Our Future. Get it in paperback, or for Kindle.
We're really excited to be releasing what is the first book to look at fracking from both economic and environmental perspectives, informed by the most thorough analysis of shale gas and oil drilling data ever undertaken. This is our first go at self-publishing - a model which has allowed us to get the book out in a fraction of the usual time - but which means WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP TO GET THE WORD OUT and get the book into people's hands. So please share the news in person, by email, via twitter and facebook, and any other legal means you can think of.

Want to learn more about the consequences of our hunger for energy? We've shared 24 newly-released essays with you on topics like peak oil, rarely discussed challenges of alternative energy, false solutions to our energy predicament (clean coal, hydrofracking) and more. These pieces by thinkers forefront in the fields of energy, society, and ecology from our book ENERGY: Overdevelopment and the Delusion of Endless Growth are available for online reading as well as free downloading. Stay tuned over the next few months, because we'll be releasing an additional essay every week — you can find out first by staying tuned on our Facebook page.
We are also celebrating some recent big wins with our Energy Reality Ambassadors and partner organizations. We're seeing fracktivist victories from Pennsylvania to California, with gas leases being cancelled and big steps in creating legislation to protect California from the dangers of fracking. (Thank you Damascus Citizens for Sustainability and Clean Water Action for your hard work on the front lines!) We're happy to announce a partnership with Americans Against Fracking on our upcoming image/action deck with a campaign to ban fracking on public lands. Visit our campaigns page for an August 5th release date to get a first glimpse.
