July 1st has come and gone. Student loan rates have doubled. The Senate cannot wait any longer to take action.
I'm cosponsoring a plan that would close a tax loophole for the wealthy and cap student loan rates at 3.4%.

Student loan debt has surpassed auto and credit debt in this country. Whether you're a Badger or a Titan, a Phoenix or a Warhawk, students across Wisconsin and our nation shouldn't suffer greater debt -- as much as $1,000 more -- because Washington can't get the job done.
Our students work hard to earn a degree, with the dream of building a better life for themselves and their families. When they graduate, they enter our workforce ready to compete -- and our economy benefits from their participation.
But today, our graduates have such a cloud of debt hanging over their path to the middle class. They can't afford this rate hike. And we can't afford to let it stand.
