AirFest '08
Nov. 1-2, 2008
Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas
The "Gateway to the Air Force" is getting ready for AirFest 2008 which will take place in the blue skies of San Antonio Nov. 1 and 2.
The grand event will be held at Lackland AFB on its historic flight line at the Kelly Field Annex.
AirFest will be free and open to the general public.
Gates will open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the aerial demonstrations starting at approximately 10:30 a.m.
AirFest is a family event where parents can enjoy the beauty of airpower and where children can play, as well as, partake, in activities just for kids.
The one-of-a-kind Navy Blue Angels demonstration team, the gravity-breaking Army parachute-jumping Golden Knights team, and Tora Tora Tora, a re-enactment of Pearl Harbor, will be the main headliners for two days full of adrenaline pumping aerial antics, aircraft displays and more.
Other incredible aerial demonstrations include the F-22 Raptor, the 21st century fighter; the Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier, a ground attacking, fighter and bomber aircraft; as well as F-16 Fighting Falcon, a high performance combat aircraft.
Along with the F-22 and F-16, the F-15 Strike Eagle and the P-40 Warhawk will be flying as part of a heritage flight formation.
There will be multiple static displays that will allow visitors an up close look at today's U.S. military airpower. Vintage aircraft filling the flight line will include: B-25 Mitchell, the P-47D Thunderbolt, and F4U-5 Corsair.
With security being Lackland's No.1 priority, visitors will be prohibited from bringing concealed weapons, ice chests, backpacks, large bags, alcohol, skates, and skateboards. These items must be left in the vehicle.
Pets, for the exception of service animals, will not be allowed at this event.
