cannot use \appendix

when i include the 

"\appendix" in my main thesis file 

mikTex cannot compile

and gives the following error 

! Undefined control sequence.
\appendix ->\@appendixtrue \settocdepth
                                        {chapter} \pagebreak \settocdepth {c...
l.1 \appendix

if i remove the "\appendix"  then everything is ok and mixTex can build by thesis successfully...

Here, i have uploaded my Thesis latex files as a '.zip' file.

The problem arises when i add the \appendix in the "MyThesis.tex" file.. mixTex cannot compile "MyThesis.tex" when i do so..

I may have overlooked something as i only started using LaTeX for about 3 months swithing from MS Word.

Any Help is appreciated

Hi Mizi,

I've downloaded and tested your files.

It appears that you commented tocvsec2 package in utmthesis.cls.

The file requires that package to work properly.

Please uncomment it and you will find that it will work.

Thanks for the fast reply... i did uncomment the  "\RequirePackage{tocvsec2}" in "utmthesis.cls"

but when doing so, mikTex still could not compile...

it throws an error saying the following:

! Undefined control sequence.

<argument> \tableofcontents

and the following:

Package tocvsec2 Warning: I don't recognize any divisions but I'll do my best on input line 34.

Is there anything i missed ? because when i comment the  "\RequirePackage{tocvsec2}" in "utmthesis.cls" mikTex compiles without error. But the result being that i cannot use appendix as u suggested.

Kindda weird though....

You must have basic miktex installed.

Hi Mizi,

I am also using MikTeX and it auto-installs the missing packages but I am also having the same problem.

When the "undefined" error occurs, please press "q" to tell the compiler to continue process it quietly..

If there are no other user errors, it will still successfully compile your .tex file.

Try this out. It worked for me when I used your main tex file (without other files).
