Can anybody remind me of what clear() is supposed to do?

So this does not change the size of the life grid or the underlying
containers?

yes, some more explanation would be very helpful
code added to main.c++ that uses clear() and proves the effects would be
best

I think that clear is supposed to reset the grid to the origonal cell used
to populate the grid.
