If your project proposal did not specify the content for a formal
progress report and give a date for the progress report to be
submitted, please send a specification for the content of a formal
progress report and a submission date to the instructors and the TA by
October 9th. You can see what graduate students have turned in so far
here: http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/ragerdl/cs378/grads/index.html.
By comparison, it should be apparent which of you need to resubmit a
project proposal with more details and a timeline.
Your submission date for the formal progress report should be no later
than November 5th. Note that you will be giving an informal report on
your progress to Dr. Hunt on October 16th, while the undergraduates
take an exam. This informal report should contain "talking points"
for approximately 5 minutes of discussion. This 5 minute informal
report will likely consist of a description of your project, and
contain some research, code, or proofs that showcase what you have
done so far.
The minimum work-products you need to "turnin" are:
(1) Project proposal (should be done already but can resubmit until
October 9th if improvement is needed)
(2) Informal progress report (given orally via discussion with Dr.
Hunt on October 16th)
(3) Formal progress report (in writing)
(4) Presentation (orally + slides)
(5) Formal writeup (in writing)
I apologize in advance for any project proposal that I missed. If
I've missed your proposal or recorded an outdated version, please just
re-email it to me. The turnin procedure is rather complex at the
moment. I'm working on developing a more reliable method than email.
Also, as mentioned in an earlier email, if you do not want your work
to be shown in public, please let me know, and I will remove it in a
tactful manner.
Thanks,
David
