Founded by Archit Jain and Scott Hatton, Oculus Light Studio is an independent lighting design studio delivering innovative lighting strategies that celebrate both the science and art of light as a powerful way to shape the environment. Lighting is the small portion of a project yet overall creates a meaningful impact. At Oculus, we enjoy the lighting process for the value it brings to each space and we pride ourselves in meeting the aesthetic, business and environmental goals of each client. Oculus is headquartered in Los Angeles, USA, with a satellite studio in Seattle, WA and with lighting design projects in the US, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
OMEN Gaming Hub offers basic lighting functions for each individual device separately. With OMEN Light Studio, all of your devices are in one view; you can create lighting effects that run across multiple devices, customize freely different zones for each effect, and create sophisticated layered lighting effects.
Some devices may support basic lighting functions but not have full RGB capability. Some devices, especially older devices do not have the performance capability to support the advanced functions of OMEN Light Studio.
No, by design each layer consists of one set of selected lighting zones and one effect type. The idea is to create multiple layers of effects to create complex and unique lighting schemes across your devices.
The light paint feature is one of the most important missed feature for me. Also I miss option for the light opacity, for example logarithmic distribution and hard edges. And a HDRI background is needed.
I just updated my laptop last night and now I have the Omen Light Studio in Beta. I share the laptop with my partner and I was able to get the keyboard to color cycle on his account, but when I try to do it on mine nothing happens? It only works when I use the old lighting program. Is there something I am missing or is this an issue on the beta's end?
**If you quit using Omen Light Studio because it would not apply your custom preset at system startup, I just stumbled on a fix: Create a new user profile in the Gaming Hub. Set it to desktop control (just like the default profile)... Next, click the little symbol that looks like an xbox control on the top right by your avatar. Highlight your new profile by clicking it, then change Profile mode to "manual" and done! Restart your system and see for yourself ***
I understand that the Omen Light Studio is a beta application, but I do have a recent issue with it. Every time I open it, an overlay pop-up appears then freezes control of the studio. The background portion of the app is still running fine, but I can no longer access any of the profiles I had set up for my keyboard and mouse.
These steps have all failed at getting rid of this blank pop-up that disables control of the studio. My wife has the same model Omen and her studio works as intended with the same recent updates.Snapshot of Blank Pop-up
Didn't delete anything this time, just launched it from the file instead of the Omen Command Center. The pop-up never showed up and I now have the ability to customize the lighting and the studio background application runs appropriately too. Hopefully the next update won't require this much effort.
The problem still exists for me through the Omen Gaming Hub, so I have to utilize my Band-Aid method for now. Since I can launch the light studio appropriately from my C-Drive (with the right permissions given to myself to access it), but I can't launch it from the Gaming Hub, then I might be able to assume that the Light Studio launch file in the Gaming Hub might be corrupted.

1) I couldn't figure out a way to use HDR Light Studio with VRED and render an object with transparent background: if I disable the Environments in VRED, all the lights managed by HDR Light Studio will disappear with it, making it impossible to render my object, as it would just be a black silhoutte at this point. But of course we got a solution, we can just let VRED's Light Editor take the control of HDR Light Studio's lights, a new feature introduced in version 2020.1, right? Well... Nope. Which brings us to point 2.
2) After creating my lights in HDR Light Studio, they don't get displayed also in VRED's Light Editor, nor they appear in the Scenegraph. This way I'm unable to completely manage them in VRED and keep them active even after disabling the Dome in the Environments. I'm not sure why they aren't appearing though.
In order to add lights from HDR Light Studio into VRED, you have to go to the "Studio" default Environment, scroll to the "HDR Light Studio" tab and start the software. After that, all the lights you are going to create in HDR Light Studio will be bound to your "Studio" Environment. What does this mean exactly? It means that, when you will go to disable all your Environments in order to render your object with the transparent alpha channel, it won't have ANY light applied to it, because you disabled all of them the same moment you set the IsVisible option of the Environments to false.
Secondly, why are you disabling the light? Unchecking "Is Visible" in the environment material does not "disable" the light, it just stops primary rays. I think you are mistaking unchecking the environment in the Scenegraph off and unchecking "Is Visible".
As much as I enjoy shooting in a studio and lighting my subject in a really beautiful or interesting way, I love the simplicity and ease of shooting natural light (specifically, the quality of light you can get from a natural light studio).
When talking about imitating a natural light studio that has a bank of windows, generally speaking, the most desirable windows to mimic are either north- or south-facing. The light tends to stay more consistent and is softer than light coming through east- or west-facing windows.
All I use for this is a small softbox (or occasionally a medium-sized strip softbox) placed at an angle to my subject. I always tend to direct my subjects to face the light, as I think the shadows this produces are the most aesthetically pleasing.

We have developed the lightSTUDIO to make this type of visual analysis possible. It provides the standard types of illumination and is large enough to illuminate a whole tabletop scene. It also allows remote control and the dimming of the lights from a PC using a USB interface.
The lightSTUDIO with its interior objects and the switchable light sources has developed into one of our top selling products for image quality analysis. It is well on the way to becoming the industry standard for a camera test scene.
The lightSTUDIO-L is based on iQ-LED V2 technology and is our standard lightSTUDIO option. Similar to our other LED products, the lightSTUDIO-L uses ten individual iQ-LED V2 elements to replicate almost any light spectrum for your camera testing. These elements use 41 SMD high power LEDs separated into 20 color channels and can reach a maximum intensity of 2000 lux.
With the introduction of iQ-LED V2, it is now possible to control the functionality of the lights without the use of a PC. You can store up to 44 different illuminants and one sequence on the device (controllable via microswitches on the device itself).
