In order to participate in LULAC to go to the national convention in New York City this summer you will need to pay membership dues that cover the UTD council, district, state, and Nationals. If not the dues for only participating in the council on campus is $10. Shirts will be provided for members who pay dues. You may talk to our treasurer next time if you cannot pay by the next meeting.
Deadline: Feb. 21st
New members: $35
Returning members: $30
Elections will be held Feb. 21st at the next general meeting. If you are interested in nominating someone or yourself for a position please reply back to this message. At the next meeting we will announce who has been nominated. The nominee will be able to either accept or decline. You will have say a short speech introducing yourself and why would you like the position. Joining a committee will not require a speech.
Chairs open:
1. Fundraising: Will help organize small events to raise funds for the organization and conventions the council would like to attend.
2. Chaplain: Recites the LULAC prayer at meetings or important functions such as the initiation ceremony we will be hosting for paid members.
3. Parliamentarian: Make sure the council is following the rules when making decisions, elections, or at meetings.
4. External Public Relations: Helps internal public relations with social media, flyers, and building awareness about LULAC.
5. Membership: Sends out reminders for events and meetings to council members. Organizes socials for the members to participate and helps members feel included.
Committees:
1. Public Relations: Helps out spreading awareness about events and things happening on/off campus.
2. Events: Organize events for the council to host. Ex. Dia de los Muertos, Dia de los Ninos, Cinco de Mayo, Speed Friend Dating, etc.
3. Youth: Get connected with the youth by helping them learn about college and your experiences.
