For those of us who are on the Lotus Talk forum daily, this is old news... For the rest- it's a good heads up.  Also I have contacted Steve Harris and go word from them on the subject.

Issue:  2005 & 2006 Lotus Elise and Exige cars car being recalled for defective oil cooler line leakage.  Here is what the PDF from the NHTSA states:

Make: LOTUS Model: ELISE
Model Year: 2006
Manufacturer: LOTUS CARS USA, INC. Mfr's Report Date: OCT 14, 2011
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 11V510000 NHTSA Action Number: PE11022
Component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:HOSE
Summary:
LOTUS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2006 ELISE AND EXIGE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED
FROM JUNE 1, 2004, THROUGH NOVEMBER 30, 2006. THE OIL COOLER LINE MAY BECOME DETACHED FROM
ITS FITTING.
Consequence:
A DETACHED OIL LINE COULD SPRAY OIL ON A TIRE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH, OR IT COULD
SPRAY OIL THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT INCREASING THE RISK OF A FIRE.
Remedy:
LOTUS WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLES AS NECESSARY FREE OF
CHARGE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE. OWNERS
MAY CONTACT LOTUS AT 1-800-245-6887.
Notes:
OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE
SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .

Here is what Steve Harris had to say about scheduling and status as of today:

While the NHTSA has issued this paperwork and Lotus has been notified, Lotus has not yet finished their end of the recall, setting up the procedure and parts list required to comply to the recall. Once this has been done they will contact the dealerships with the protocol they have allowed for within the recall.  At this time the dealerships will know what parts and how much time they will need for each vehicle.  Meanwhile we will all be notified via the mail, through our state registration records (those of us that have the defective cars) to have authorization of service to be completed and comped by Lotus.  Steve Harris thought this might be another 3-6 weeks before they would know more.
No need to call and check back with them... FYI.
