Ryan, have you tried the UT Convention & Visitors bureau for venues?

Hello all.

Sorry I'm a little late to the party, but I was messing around at the
aforementioned link--
http://www.visitsaltlake.com/ --
and some interesting results came up. You can search by location,
room size, etc.

What venue square footage & capacity (and upper price limit) are we
talking about here?
I'm assuming a capacity of 200 per day.

Interesting venue ideas at $100/hr. :
The Organ Loft in SLC. I've been there a few times, 200 people might
fit with banquet seating, you can bring in your own food, but adjacent
parking is a problem. The lot is dirt, with no unpainted stalls. You
could park north of 3300 South at the Century 16 Theatre lot, I
suppose.

West Valley's "Utah Cultural Celebration Center," west of Redwood Road
at ~3100 South. Good parking, secluded venue, even _half_ of the
"Grand Hall" is huge. Outside food is allowed, eateries are close by,
and the hours seem okay. I'd recommend this one.

Other ideas: the main building at Gardner Village, the Larry H.
Miller Business campus of SLCC (9800 South & 500 West?), SLCC's
Redwood or South campus student centers?

If AGoS is serious about increasing out-of-state attendance over
multiple days, I think a hotel's the way to go. I wouldn't get a room
if it was in SLC, though. (Or Utah or Weber counties)

Ryan,
I also put in a call to the Davis Convention Bureau at http://www.davisareacvb.com
They represent a number of different properties in area.  I won't have info back for almost a week but he thought there were a couple of good options for a group our size.

Is there any chance of some game store with a connection or a large
area they could let us use?

I have a 4,000 square foot warehouse up in Clearfield but its not A/C
and in the summer that could be a bit of a problem. Only about 1,000
square feet has AC.

Its a shame we can't get some LDS guy to get us into his church for
the weekend... a cultural hall would work, especially one of those
with carpet. I'm actually part of a huge family reunion, how about
you? LOL!

Let me know if you need anything up this way, or is Clearfield to far
north? You know the Freeport Center up here has a Davis County School
District Cafe that would hold about that many people... have you
thought about the fair grounds? Davis County Fair Grounds has several
spots big enough for us and its right off the light rail too...
