Yet another land speed electric

Too bad they left because of the rain! It's mighty exciting, though, that 3 electric land speed records could have been set!

The meet was cancelled due to all the rain turning the Salt Flats into a shallow lake. However, there was a shot at 5 or more world records being set, and 3 of them electrics. Even better, it looked possible 2 of the electrics (motorcycle sidecar and streamliner under 1000 kg) could take the overall record, gas or electric! Electrics have arrived! The meet is likely to be rescheduled for October.

Is there now another under 1100# streamliner or are you talking about BYU?  Hadn't headed of one so I'm wondering. We were rained out at World of Speed so I guess we try next year.

Kyle, World of Speed was rained out also. Hopefully soon all works well on my car and I can run next year.

Kelly: They are running the under 1000 kg class, you are the under 500 kg class, and OSU is the over 1000 kg class, so there is no direct competition. You might want to track "Cook's Shootout." My understanding is it is invitation only for folks looking to break records, but BYU definitely qualifies for that. They are looking to reschedule for October.

I was confused on the weight. Of course you are correct. So who is campaigning the E-2 streamliner? The current SCTI-BNI record is 214. Should be doable.

Ah the Drayson car. I thought it was a traditional streamliner. I like the comment Lord Drayson makes near the end of that article. He says its a challenge building a car under 1000kg able to go over 200 on electricity. I say try it under 500kg like we are!
