I am a new member. I hope to see more ukuleles players come out into
the open in Utah. I know they are there. I am wondering who is your
favorite ukulele performer? Check out James Hill on Utube
athttp://youtube.com/watch?v=qsOhmN2mpHI. His fingers really fly!

I have a hard time choosing just one favorite. I like Jake
Shimabukuro, Herb Ohta, Jr., Daniel Ho and, of course, IZ. I'm with
you, cowboy uker, there's gotta be more uke players here in Utah - I
just hope there are some who live closer to where I live so we can get
together and learn from each other.

I really like Jake SHimabukuro and Iz, I saw Jake when he came to the Gallivan center a
couple of years ago. I also like Ralph Shaw and Joel Eckhaus, however they play song that are more the Tin Pan Alley style. I know there are ukulele players in Utah, we just have to figure out how to get them out into the open.

When I wanted to start playing the Uke it was because of seeing Jake
on youtube. LOL. But since then I have found some other traditional
players that I like. I don't have a favorite because I appreciate
them all, but I do like Jake for his style and playing ability.
Hulagirl Are you close to Salt Lake? For some reason I thought you
were in Bountiful. If you want to set up a jam session post it
somewhere with a time and location(like the Jam session page). I, for
one, would go if the wife and kids would let me out of the house for a
few hours and it was within a 45 minute drive.

I live in West Point out by the road that leads over to Antelope
Island. It's between Bountiful and Ogden but West. I can't ever get
away without my 2 boys but if there was something not too far and "kid
friendly" I would love to meet up with folks and learn. So far, I
have only played ukulele in the comforts of my own home around my
family so it would be quite a learning experience for me.
