I’m too wimpy to ride in the rain, hoping to head south & do the Cedar City Perm on Sunday if anyone wants to join.

Are my old perms still active? Maybe someone revived them. Just curious.

Ken,
I’ve signed the waiver, but I reserve the right to bail out in case of extreme rain!

Thanks,
David

Martie, it is called the Parowan Gap. That is one of my designs. Not too much climbing. I forgot the route went that far south. Hoyt just rode that one last week. Maybe he can give you a brief report. I also have a northern start route if you don't want to drive all the way into Cedar.

Lonnie, did you design the 100K going up into Zion or was that another of mine? That is not active right now.

I just created, with a lot of help from Chris Thomas, a new 100K perm in the St. George/Washington area.

The Parowan gap 100k was a good one. The wind heading south into Cedar City was tough. But turning North it was awesome to have a tail wind and cruise along at 20+mph! The Gap toward the end was picture worthy. Make sure you tank up before leaving Cedar City as you head out to the desert on the north bound loop.

What is the St George route? Is it a 200k?

I may head down to St G on Friday to run Saturday, then bike Sunday once the rain stops! So a StG route would be great also…

Per Hoyt's request, it is a 100K route.

I also designed a 100-miler down there but have not submitted it for approval yet.

Lonnie, your Zion 200k is active and I intend to resubmit the Zion 100k soon, so people will still be riding those for years. And the pop/brevet routes are still active.
Martie (& others), our active perm routes right now in Southern Utah are the Zion 200k, the new Dizzy Dixie 100k, and the Parowan Gap 100k in Cedar City.
David, could you ride Friday instead? The weather forecast looks just a little bit better, so we could pre-ride it on Friday instead. Nobody else is signed up yet & we conflict with cyclocross so I don't expect much more interest. (And good to see you recovered enough to ride!)

Ken,

Most of what I had going back in the day is now pretty obsolete, but some of my old routes would still be viable if updated. The Bryce Canyon populaire was one of my favorites and should still be good as is!

The link below is for what's left of my old SUBrevet website which has links to the perms I kept active after retiring. Those died when RUSA went digital and I did not update them.

The last link is to my blog site which in addition to my biking interests has quite a few accounts of brevets in the western region. In the sidebar under "Utah Brevets" and also under "Other events" you will find links to some of the rides we did BITD.

Cheers!
Lonnie

Ken,
I could ride on Friday! It looks like the predicted rainfall is about half of what it is on Saturday.

Is anyone else interested?

Ok, let's pre-ride Friday at 9:00. So far it is David and David and myself.
And anybody who still wants to ride on Saturday that is still an option.

Ok Matt, some of us had planned to pre-ride it on Friday, but I will switch back to riding it Saturday if you're planning on it. (Rain doesn't bother me & I have good rain gear).
David & David, you can still ride Friday if you'd prefer.

Something else has come up for me on Saturday, so I am still planning on Friday.

Ok, road construction is really bad on 700N right now, so I've created a route that mostly bypasses the construction.
Please use this route instead:

Ken,

Thank you for the updated route.  If I’m the only one Saturday that is just fine as I’m familiar with all portions of the route and don’t mind riding it alone.  I wish I could make the Friday ride but have a schedule conflict.

Thanks!
Matt

I am going to plan to ride it Friday, but can’t start till about noon as I have a morning appointment. Do I need to sign up to ride a Populaire on the RUSA website or just sign waiver/submit my ride to you, Ken?
Thanks!

I wasn't able to make the ride today so I'm still planning on riding Saturday at 9. I saw on Strava several people rode it today but if anyone else wants to brave the weather tomorrow I'll be there. I guarantee you'll drop me up Emigration but we can ride together until then.  :)
