Hi all,

I'm new to randonneuring and am wondering if I could get help clarifying something with the P-12 Award. Do organized brevets, of the correct distance, qualify for the P-12? I'd like to sign up for some of the organized rides. Thanks!

Hi Maureen! Yes, calendared rides and perms both count for the P12 award, so you could ride either the St George Snow Canyon 100k on 3/14 or the Willard Bay 100k on 3/28, or a perm to get a March P12 ride in. Unfortunately we do not have a calendared Feb ride so a perm is the best option,  or travel to a warm region like Phoenix as Hoyt has done :D. A bunch of us rode Feb 1 to get our Feb 100k, but I know there may be other people still wanting to ride a 100k in Feb.

Another newbie question. What is P12?

The P-12 is an award for doing a sub 200km each month for a year. See here: https://rusa.org/pages/award-p12

I started last month and might be doing one on Monday, weather dependant.

The P12 is a RUSA award that you can earn by riding a 100km route every month for 12 months in a row. A few of us have been working on it over the last year (and I just finished my first one this month!)

Or, if you really want to get after it, choose the R-12 series. Same rules, but finishing a 200km, or longer, sanctioned ride each month.
