Please join us Saturday May 24 for our BR/CV Brevet series, starting in Brigham City. Check in at 4:30 with a 5:00AM start at the Chevron/Top Stop, 1095 S 500 W, Brigham City. Please park along Westland Dr near the Dutch Bros. The early start is to allow the 400k riders to finish at a reasonable hour. (My typical 400k finish time is 18+ hours.) The early start will also allow the 200 & 300k riders to get some dark riding experience. These are some of our fastest 300 & 400k routes, so I hope everybody has a great day of riding.

These routes are unchanged from previous years, and have not been pre-ridden this year, so please use your best judgement to route around any issues. There is road construction on HWY 30 near mile 28, but it looks like they are only stopping traffic during the night.

Also a reminder that everybody will need night riding gear for a 5AM start, so please bring your lights, reflective vest, and reflective ankle bands. If you need to borrow any from me, please let me know and I will bring extras.

Hey Ken,

Super last minute but thinking about driving over for the 400 this Saturday. Do I need to have SLR membership?

Thanks,

Jim from Colorado

I guess the other question is if this route would be ok in the velomobile.

Just RUSA membership required; I have your info from last time so just let me know if you're coming.
Yes, I think this route would be pretty good for you; the roads with no shoulder are very low traffic. Probably the biggest issue would be climbing the canyon at mile 45. There's no shoulder and some blind corners, but it's a very popular bike route so the cars going up that canyon are used to looking out for us. And it's not steep anywhere.

The only caveat is that it’s a holiday weekend so beware of pick-up trucks hauling wide ATV trailers up the canyon. Use a daylight blinkie… Like 200 lm.

Thanks everybody for riding with us on Saturday. I don't know that I've ever had a more perfect full day of riding; beautiful weather, great riding companions, gorgeous route.
I have updated our routes to fix the dead-end cul-de-sac at mile 81; that area has been under construction for years so it looks like that has finally wrapped up and we can get thru on 1000W now.
It looks like everybody managed to get thru there OK, so the routes have been fixed for next time.
I have put our results into the tracking spreadsheet and I will upload those to RUSA tomorrow, please let me know if you see any mistakes.
Our next 100k is Nebo Loop on June 7, and our next long brevet is 300/400/600k on Friday June 13. Reminder that it is time to make a hotel reservation for 600k riders, we're starting at the Comfort Inn in Lehi.
I'm still working on updating the Backroads of the Great Basin routes, and the start details, so watch for those updates. (The 300&400k will start the same as the currently linked 600k)

Thanks for all your efforts Ken, it was indeed a magnificent day and great to get to ride some USA miles with you and all the other SL Randos!

Yes! Such a nice day. I don't think I've ever started that early with comfortable temps (wasn't "temp'ted" to overdress) and then didn't overhead later in the day. Thanks for the company north to the turnaround, Brandon. Glad you got rested up and made it back. Thanks for the carrot, Ben. You stayed impressively strong all day long. Maybe Big Cottonwood was just the ticket ;-)

And THANKS so much, Ken, for all the work you do. Nice ride!

Big Cottonwood or was it the cheeseburger at the Newton Store?  Or the giant cookie at the I 15 turnaround?  Or the Maverik green chile burrito?

Following Steve and Amy down Blacksmiths Fork was the highlight of the day for me, never had to take a pull and we put in amazingly fast times, like, faster than a lot of the local pros fast. In a 400k!  Chapeau Steve and Amy!

Hey gang
I am terribly unprepared for night riding requirements so am hoping folks can send suggestions for lights, reflective vest, ankle straps.

If I can get myself together before weeks end I’ll attempt the 300.
