Utah Lake 200/300/400k 5/2

Please join Salt Lake Randonneurs for the Utah Lake 200/300k and 6 Valley Tour 400k brevet series, this Saturday May 2. These routes follow the same course for the first 200k.

Sign in starts at 4:30AM for a prompt 5:00AM start at Maceys Grocery at 760 Main St in Lehi.  Please park to the south of Altabank. Maceys does not open until 6AM, so please use the adjacent Top Stop or 7-Eleven (24h) across the street.

The early start will allow the 200k riders to enjoy an early morning randonneuring experience, while still allowing some of the 300k riders to finish before dark, and minimize the late night time on the road for the 400k riders. Due to the dark dark start, lights, reflective vest, and 2 reflective ankle bands are required for every rider per https://rusa.org/reflectivity. Please let me know if you need to borrow any night riding gear and I will bring spares.

It's not too late to join, please register here:

https://www.saltlakerandos.org/registration/

If you have not already submitted an electronic waiver, please do:

https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/v/rusaUTSaltLakeCity

A unique waiver is required for each ride, so if you have not filled one out for this ride, please do so now.

Time limits:

300k 20h --1AM Sunday

400k 27h --8AM Sunday

For electronic brevet verification, please email me your GPS track after the ride, or join our 2026 Strava club if you use that app, and I will see your results there.

Because most people have switched to electronic GPS navigation, I will no longer be providing paper cue sheets & brevet cards, so please print out your own cards (attached) if needed.

When I as actively doing 300s and 400s (in my upper 50s and 60s), my 4's usually took me 18-20 hours...you guys all finished in 17 hours or below. NICE WORK!

...and as everyone should know, 400K is the hardest distance.   The 600K distance is longer, but unless you ride straight through, it's not the hardest.

Congratulations!

In case you missed it, as I quoted myself at the start of this brevet, 400k is the BEST distance! I wrote in this in my ride report from 2016:
...
The night before... I thought, “No, not a 400k...I hate riding 400ks!”
But now, it was midnight, I had been riding for 20 hours and one thought pervaded my mind:  “I LOVE riding 400ks!  It’s my FAVORITE distance, from now on I’m ONLY riding 400ks!”.
