BGB 400k Fri May 22
Please join Salt Lake Randonneurs for the Backroads of the Great Basin 400k brevet, on Friday May 22. This is a unique overnight 400k, with an 11AM start, a planned sleep stop in Nephi at mile 155, and the final 95 miles to be ridden early Saturday morning, with a 27 hour finish deadline at 2:00PM Saturday afternoon.

The ride starts at 11:00AM at the Maceys at 760 Main St in Lehi. The southbound Frontrunner train arrives the American Fork station at 10:51, so riders coming on the train will arrive just in time to start the brevet.

Many thanks to Eric for providing overnight drop bag service in Nephi. If you would like him to take a bag for you, please bring one medium sized or smaller bag and he will leave it in the lobby at the Holiday Inn Express in Nephi, and carry it back to the finish Saturday.

So far, we do not have any riders signed up for the scheduled 600k on Friday, so if you would like to ride the 600k please get in touch asap.

It's not too late to join, please register here:
https://www.saltlakerandos.org/registration/

A unique waiver is required for each ride, if you have not already submitted an electronic waiver, please do:

For electronic brevet verification, please email me your GPS track after the ride, or join our 2026 Strava club if you use that app, and I will see your results there.

Because most people have switched to electronic GPS navigation, I will no longer be providing paper cue sheets & brevet cards, so please print out your own cards (attached) if needed.

Hi Ken,

Can I still get a paper copy of BGB 400k route and Brevet Card as a back up? I didn't see an attachment on this email.

How was the Fruita Loops 1200? The weather looked a bit dicey.

Yes, attached cue sheet & brevet card.

Fruita was a great route, but also we dealt with some pretty extreme weather so it ended up being a tough ride overall.

Here's a randoplan I've run for this route:

I set it to: 15 mph ave riding speed, 10 mins at each control, 6 hour overnight. With those parameters it shows a Nephi arrival at 11:30PM, a 6:30AM start Saturday morning, and a 12:30 finish; with mild winds and mild temps.
Should be a great ride.
