Hey Indies,

I want to tell you about a special event happening a couple days after our Indie Games Night.  There will be a special showing of the documentary "Indie Game: The Movie"  (http://www.indiegamethemovie.com/).  Many of you have heard about this film and have been eager to see it (including myself).  It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and it won a couple of awards there.  Some of you may have been able to catch it when it was there, however tickets were quickly gobbled up then (and they went to mostly film industry insiders), so not many indies were actually able to see the film about indie games.  So now we will all have a chance to see it.  Unfortunately this is not part of the film makers official tour, so they will not be at the event, but this showing is better than nothing.

The film will be shown on Thursday May 31st at 7:30pm at Brewvies in SLC (http://www.brewvies.com/).  Please note that Brewvies only allows adults age 21 or older to enter the theaters, so this won't be a showing where you can bring the kids.  Also thanks to some gracious sponsorships the tickets will be free.  You can reserve your tickets now by going to http://igtm-slc.eventbrite.com/ and use the promotional code "indiegamemovie".  This hasn't been announced to the general public yet, so you'll want to do this soon as there are a limited number of seats available.  Please only reserve seats if you are absolutely going to attend.  Also be advised that you will need to arrive early, because at 7:15pm any unclaimed tickets will be returned to the general pool and be made available to others that may be standing by at the door.

Special Kudos to Mike Rubin for all his hard work in putting this together.  Also a special thanks to the sponsors of this event (I don't have an official list of them yet, otherwise I'd name them here).

See you guys there!

Just an FYI, we've already reserved more than half the seats in the
theater, so if you want to go and haven't reserved your free tickets
yet, better do it soon.

Also, since this is a movie about indie game development, I wanted to
make it an opportunity for local indie game devs to showcase a game of
theirs (even if it's not yet finished). Nothing much, just a 30-45
scond trailer of a game you'd like to push. I'll collect as many as I
can, and string them together for a series of trailers before the
movie starts (kind of like the movie trailer thing before the feature
presentation).

So if you want to include a short trailer of yours, you have less than
three weeks to get one together. Just reply here or let me know by
email at slcrubes at gmail dot com.

I have one I would love to contribute-  Do you want me to throw
together a video or to demo actual game play?

Just videos. If I get enough videos (not too many takers yet), I'll be
putting them together sequentially.

Wow -- as of right now, all of our advance seats are SOLD OUT! (Well,
since they're free tickets, I suppose the proper thing to say is that
they're all GIVEN OUT.)

There may still be some opportunity for tickets, however, since some
of our sponsors may not use all of their tickets. Plus, some people
may end up cancelling their tickets in advance of the show. So if you
still want to have the opportunity to see the show, put your name on
our waiting list. As extra tickets become available, I will contact
people on the waitlist one by one to release those tickets to each
individual.

The web site for the event should now have a link to add your name to
the waitlist. Note that the waitlist only allows 1 TICKET RESERVATION
per person, so if you want two tickets, you need to put your name on
the waitlist twice. Please, no more than two tickets per person for
the waitlist.

Thanks!
Mike

Hey everyone,

Just a quick reminder that we are less than a week away from the movie
screening, so if you want to include a short trailer of yours, you
have less than a week to get one to me. If you are working on one,
just reply here or let me know by email at slcrubes at gmail dot com.
Thanks!

Mike
