As a reminder, I will be presenting at the Provo Linux User Group (PLUG) Meeting tomorrow afternoon. My goal is to introduce developers to the ideas behind enterprise content management and the CMIS API.

When: Wednesday, February 8, at 7:30PM
Where: C7 Data Center in Lindon
Map: http://plug.org/c7dc

PLUG is a great community of developers, system administrators, and open source enthusiasts.

I hope to see you there!

Richard

A quick reminder about my presentation tomorrow evening.

I have been brainstorming catchier / more descriptive titles for the presentation:

* "What I wish I knew about data when I first started being paid to program",
* "Patterns for handling data in applications",
* "A crash course in content management",
* "Stuff those ECM people understand but never really explain to regular programmers".

Whatever it's called, I've enjoyed a break from my regular job to brush up some code examples.

My presentation will be based on one my team gave at JavaOne and Devoxx last fall, so I think it will be useful.

See you there!

Richard

/me gets back to trying to get this code sample to work.

Thanks for the presentation last night.  When the presentation is available I will forward to my developer Ben.

If you are able to send me an invite to the Alfresco Cloud offering you mentioned I would be interested.

You can send to ch...@chrisedmunds.com

thanks

Chris

<forwarded from the PLUG list>

I enjoyed the opportunity to present. Thank you for giving me an excuse to get more in-depth with the CMIS standard. C7 has provided a very nice meeting space, and it brings back memories of a great PLUG BBQ and protest. It seemed like the Google Hangout worked pretty well, though I apologize for my not being very familiar with it and so I didn't monitor questions there very well.

I uploaded my slides at Speaker Deck:

I was asked during the presentation to provide a link to the Alfresco cloud service. You can sign up here:

http://cloud.alfresco.com/

I was also asked about local Alfresco events. Alfresco is buying lunch and providing a demo of Alfresco 4.0 on February 29. You can sign up here:

Let me know if you have any questions.

Richard
