New Players

I suggest newcomers and squash regulars meet up for a round robin kind of thing, on a Saturday or Sunday, so we can all say hello, welcome to Austin (etc), have a hit, compare abilities, and establish contact.

Though its a crap-shoot before noon (no booking) the courts would probably be ours thereafter provided at least 4 showed up by 10 am. I will sign up for a session if there is sufficient interest, though I cannot do next weekend.

Please forward this to relevant folks whose emails I am missing.

Michael, brilliant idea. I’m also planning to reenter the scene, but will only do so once the fall semester is open for club membership. Perhaps it’d make sense to have such a meetup early September. Cheers,

We do this at lifetime every monday evening and sat am and it works out great. With no bookings before noon it would make a lot of sense to have RR style play every sat & sun where everyone puts their rackets up and plays two games and rotates - winner gets to put their racket back up first. 

Thoughts?

Yes, this is a good idea. We used to do this at UT on Thursday evenings about 10 years ago, but after that the squash club lost it accreditation by UT Recsports and with that went the ability of being able to block off both courts for two hours for the club.

I wonder if we can get approval from the school to hang a sign that posts the rules of RR before noon on weekends. This would really help players get to know each other.  If a lot of folks show - we can do beginners on one court and advanced on the second.

I would use my membership a ton more if I could just show up and grab some games on the weekend without trying to plan a single match.

Because courts are available on first come first served basis before noon, there will be no need to involve UT rec sports administration IF proposed RR folk show up before anyone else. 

Some folks here may know: 

When on Saturday and Sunday morning do 'other' folks (not in this mailing list first appear)?

Saturday & Sunday Mornings 8-12?  or whenever the courts bookings start
