Ever needed to help a friend out with a technical problem in another location or connect to another PC remotely? Remote Anything allows you to completely control the keyboard, mouse, and screen of a remote PC via a modem, a LAN or the Internet.

Is anyone aware of a way to add endpoints, back under the management of an EMS server by utilising a script, or command line / powershell, anything really, other than having to go to the end point, and manually type in the EMS address under the Fabric Telemetry tab.

When I examined the branches in the remote repository (which is also on my local machine), it itself does not have any local branches. It only has upstream branches from where that remote was originally cloned. Is that the reason why $ git fetch does not do anything.

I am 17 years old. I came across (Inherited) a significant amount of money a couple of weeks ago, and I am trying to connect a remote to the speakers in my house. they are battery powered and should work but I'm not very good with this sort of stuff. You mentioned that you had an Ebay account? If you could build a couple of these and sell them on Ebay you could make a small amount of cash and get your product out there. :) if this is not possible, is there any way to do this without a soldering iron or solder? (Heat == Bad)

Great Instructable. As to the accent, I'm not offended one bit. Like they say, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." I'm a Yank, and even I am guilty of imitating the US southern accent on occasion. It's unavoidable, actually. :-)

Anyway, to my point: I made an air-powered potato launcher that also uses an 18V sprinker valve, and it seems to trigger just fine with one 9V battery. I wonder if the remote might also run on 9V?

Thanks again for posting this Instructable.

Request: Would it be possible to add to lightburn a custom raw USB HID component - either as a full bi-directional remote control or as a simple mapping to the console macros? Even better would be a merge of the HID codes to the main COM port so that any grbl codes could be generated and sent by a suitably programmed Arduino with USB HID capabilities. Using raw HID rather than standard keyboard input would prevent problems with active windows and other softwares grabbing the keyboard.

I have Apple TV with the silver remote. It turns on and everything looks fine the light on the box flashes when I press the buttons on the remote but nothing happens it just stays on the home screen. I did all the shortcuts, holding done the menu button and down, menu and left/right and changing the battery bit nothing seems to work. How do I fix this?

I started looking around for a typical hard-wire jack plug socket...found none.
Then thought maybe its covered up by the half-case so I checked the Index in the back of little owners manual...found no mention of "Remote" anything.

Although the Sony Wireless Commander is hard to find and somewhat expensive ($30), you can find lots of remote units on ebay that work just fine for under $10. I've got one made by Opteka and it cost $7.

Ahhh...there's an NEX7 manual, and there's an NEX7 handbook...its page 58 in the 'handbook'.
And just reading it, it appears it can't do video.
Yet the Forum search turned up a thread from some months ago say there's a remote that does both.....not crystal clear yet.

If you get it anytime soon current testimony to it working on an NEX7 wold be great.
PS:
The IR sensor is on the front of the camera...but I read a post that the remotes also work fine from behind (which is where I'd probably want to be most of the time).
As I recall, when it was asked how it worked from behind, it was suggested that the IR signal goes past the camera, bounces off the subject in front of the camera, and comes back towards the front of the camera.

We have 2 wireless remote controls that are compatible with your NEX-7 camera. One is the RMT-DSLR1 model that is capable of remotely triggering the camera to shoot still images. The other model is the RMT-DSLR2, that can remotely trigger a compatible camera to shoot both still images and videos. You may opt to get the RMT-DSLR2 since your camera is capable of recording both still images and videos.

Its amazing isn't it...a simple jack plug socket and 50ft remote control trigger cord has worked flawlessly for decades, no matter where you are in relation to the camera. Fast forward decades, take full advantage of huge leaps in technology, and there's all sorts of quirky problems...LOL

".....The camera will encounter a difficulty in receiving the infrared signal from the remote commander if you will shoot behind it. You should be in front or along the side of the camera and point the remote control towards the IR sensor on the camera to make the setup work. Depending on the surrounding environment, 25 feet is the maximum distance for using the RMT-DSLR1 and RMT-DSLR2 remote controls. Please be advised that sunlight, as well as fluorescent light, can interfere with IR signals and reduce the usable distance of an IR remote control.

Since you will be taking a picture of wildlife, you may try to use Shutter Priority mode and set a faster shutter speed and higher ISO. Pressing the [Shutter] button on the remote will release the camera's shutter right away. Upon testing, you may press the [2 sec] button so that the camera will be able to focus on your subject first before the shutter will be released.

The same outfit i mentioned before (byMaC.org) apparently makes a remote that will trigger the NEX in burst mode (and, apparently, it will work with any camera brand). Even after watching the video, i'm not quite sure how it works, but in an e-mail exchange with them, the rep said specifically it would trigger NEX in burst mode. Only catch is that it's expensive at $195 USD.

It does indeed have remote shutter capability. I got a Remote Commander and was very frustrated w/ it until I discovered this: All you need to do is get into the Camera menu, and set the Drive Mode to "Remote Commander". Then you can use the remote, or use the normal shutter button... Hope this works for you!

Thanks for that update on an older thread...I've bookmarked this to save your tip and may not get into it until after the hplidays now but will eventually want to get some sort of remote capability, so this is good news

Just checked out the amazon.com page. 150 dollars is too much for me to spend on a remote. Anything a tad bit more basic? Honestly all I need is the LED light function (unless that drags the cost up too much), and the ok button in the center to be able to control pause and play (thats a big one for me). The buttons right next to the ok function controlling rewind and fast forward would be great too. That way I only need to use the center buttons for the most part.

Here is the link to the harmony 650. Notice it has arrow keys, a very convenient back bottom (lower right below arrow keys) and ok in the center, and the color keys across the top (matches the remote)

I have been in the hospital or rehab for 2 months. I came home (finally!) a few days ago and went to turn on my TV using my Roku remote. Nothing happened. My best guess is that the charge in the remote died while I was goune so I currently have the remote plugged in to a charger. My instruction manual says: " The status light will stop blinking once your remote is finished charging." My question is this: When the status light stops blinking will the light stay on steadily or will the light turn off?. Right now it's still blinking. Is there anything else that might be causing my remote to elicit nothing from my Roku Ultra streamingf player?Thank you!
