Does anyone have any insight on the query for the raster calculator in lab 9B? As in how in the world do I phrase the query?

Thanks.

You can either do a search for "Raster Calculator", or you can find it in the toolbox under Spatial Analyst Tools>Map Algebra>Raster Calculator.

Quinn, Are you talking about Part B: the DEM of difference?
There are a couple of raster calculations - can you be more specific about which you are questioning?

Thanks Jeran, I was actually wanting more insight on the phrasing for the Python query. I think I figured it out though.

And Shannon, no I was in part A, and couldn't figure out how to get the binary raster - but I solved that by skipping the Raster Calc and just reclassifying manually. I think 2/3 of learning ArcMap is figuring out how to do something a different way than you originally thought.

Thanks guys.

Quinn! there's nothing more I can teach you!  ha ha

You hit the nail on the head. Being comfortable enough to just muster through the tool box and figure out some way to get the job done is 99% of GIS. But again, a level of comfort with the tools, confidence in your ability to manage the data (inputs and outputs), and some ability to predict and evaluate results is necessary.  If this course can help get you to place where you have the confidence and evaluative skills to get dirty and plod through experimental GIS analyses, I'll be a happy camper.
