Maybe it's not down forver yet, because when i do a whois query on the domain name, it's still registered up until 2027, but I guess it's time to all move to Feedly.

It's been essentially dead for years. No support, feeds broken, no updates.

I went to https://start.me   Pretty easy to get essentially the same look and functionality as ustart.  And they actively support it.

essentially dead for years - that matches my experience and observation. I will guess, based on current evidence, that the owners are absentee, for whatever reason, as the domain still resolves - but the server doesn't respond. Copilot AI finds no public statement or report, see following text. I've got a protopage set up already. I guess I'll be using it more now.

None of the monitoring sites provide any official statement, user reports, or admin notices explaining the outage. There are:

• No DNS change alerts

• No hosting expiration notices

• No public maintenance announcements

• No social media chatter or admin posts (based on search results)

This strongly suggests one of the following behind-the-scenes causes:

1. Hosting or server failure (most likely given the global unreachable status)

2. DNS misconfiguration or expiration

3. The site owners intentionally took it offline

4. Backend service crash with no failover

Because the domain still resolves but the server doesn’t respond, a backend/server outage is the most plausible explanation.

I'll just say RIP Ustart. You were good while it lasted.

And because of the way ustart went down, and when it came back up - individual's start page settings were changed? I now consider ustart a security risk. I'm outta here. It was nice while it lasted.
