As mentioned in our first newsletter, the USCIS is taking 5 to 6 months to process cases that are filed regularly. Presently, the USCIS is processing cases that were filed in September 2010.
For 2011, please plan to have an extension case initiated at least seven (7) months prior to the expiration date on your I-797 approval notice. That way, we can ensure to file your case six (6) months in advance and help you save the costs of filing with premium processing service. Moreover, your case will be adjudicated prior to or around the expiration date. You will receive the original approval notice in a timely manner for driver license renewal, dependent visa application, or any other purposes.
