Clifton: Very well, Captain.  Any further orders?

MacLaren:: Pacing again in thought, she suddenly stopped:: Did either of ye ever study the logs of the original Enterprise. Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock were amazing pioneers; I tended to read those auld logs for entertainment when I was at Starfleet.

Clifton: I recall a few of them, I think.  Didn't Kirk fight a Gorn once?

V’Lenn: Yes, that is correct.  Please continue, Captain.

MacLaren: At one point, they encountered a energy based entity which had come aboard. It had also brought Klingons on board. Ye will recall that in those days, Klingons were the enemay and not part of the Federation. The result was constant violence as the Klingon intruders and the crew of the Enterprise battled for control of the ship. Eventually, they both realized a verra strange thing. All those who were injured were rapidly returned to good health, so they could return to the fight.

V’Lenn: Yes, I recall reading those mission notes.  A non-corporeal life form which was never identified invaded the ship.

MacLaren:: warming to her story:: Eventually Captain Kirk and the Klingon commander realized the same thing. The sides were remaining even, so the fighting could continue. Eventually, someone spotted a bright glowing light. It would grow when the fighting was going on, and fade when it ceased or lessened. They realized that this entity thrived on negative energy. IT was thriving on their hostility.

Now let’s consider that we have a similar entity, not the same, but something that is here and that may thrive on death. Perhaps it canna take a form to harm anyone, but it can use some kind of surrogate, like the robot. We could be facing something that literally thrives on death. It may need to feed on other life sources.

Clifton: It's possible, in fact it fits what facts we have.

V’Lenn: Very logical, Captain.  We should maintain extreme vigilance in order to note when anything unusual happens.

MacLaren: It may be entirely different, but we canna assume that. We know one thing; it has killed.

Clifton: Yes, and from what I've seen it picked a target at random.

V’Lenn: Captain, may I suggest extreme caution from this moment forward, both in regard to the crew members and any equipment we may have aboard ship.

Captain MacLaren: Tag

Clifton: I agree with V'Lenn, Captain.  Have everyone take notice of the first unusual thing that happens, so we can investigate immediately.

Captain MacLaren: Tag

Clifton: We'll be reaching the starbase soon, may I recommend that we do not dock, nor allow anyone to beam over.  We need to try and limit this thing to the ship, that is if we ever find it.

Clifton: Yes, and from what I've seen it picked a target at random.

V’Lenn: Captain, may I suggest extreme caution from this moment forward, both in regard to the crew members and any equipment we may have aboard ship.

Captain MacLaren: Aye, we'll;; have to put in new security measures and notify the crew to extreme vigilance.

Clifton: I agree with V'Lenn, Captain.  Have everyone take notice of the first unusual thing that happens, so we can investigate immediately.

Captain MacLaren: Then it's unanimous.

Clifton: We'll be reaching the starbase soon, may I recommend that we do not dock, nor allow anyone to beam over.  We need to try and limit this thing to the ship, that is if we ever find it.

Captain MacLaren: Excellent point, Chief. ::Smiling:: Ye're a step ahead of me there. We also have to consider that if there is such a being, it may simply have found a robot easy, but it doesna mean that it is incapable of controlling sentient beings.

Clifton/V'Lenn?

MacLaren =^= Attention all hands, this is the captain. It is not certain at this time, but there may be a foreign entity on board which is capable of reprograming robotic equipment and possibly influencing sentient behavior in dangerous ways. Again, this is not certain at this time, but all members are to exercise extreme vigilance; and if you do see anything suspicious, take no immediate action but report  immediately anything unusual  with equipment or uncharacteristic behavior to security or nearest ranking officer. Look for anything out of the ordinary and remain alert at all times. Captain out. =^=

Clifton/V'Lenn?

MacLaren: Weel, I'm open to suggestions on our next steps.
