*** Dining Hall / morning ***
:: Having made his way to the hall where various people were eating breakfast, Clifton noted Captain MacLaren sitting alone. His only chance at getting this "Grail" was to convince Johanna to help him, although the thought of lying to her turned his stomach. He easily approached and took a seat nearby. ::
Clifton: Morning, Cap.
Johanna: Good morning Chief. Have ye tried the scones? They’re delicious.
:: Clifton nodded in agreement. ::
Clifton: I'm not sure of all the details, but I found out something very interesting last night.
Johanna: sighing: Chief, ye have to stop creeping about here. We are guests, uninvited guests. What is it?
Clifton: Well, it's something called a "Grail" and from what I understand it has virtually unlimited power.
Johanna : startled: the Grail? Are ye sure it
Clifton: What I'm thinking is that if this thing has so much power, then maybe it can get us back home where we belong.
Johanna : after a long pause: If it is what I think it is, it has all the power in the universe, but we canna make it do anything. If it is here, and it weel may be, ye are to stay clear of it, Commander Clifton! It is nothing to play with.
Clifton: Trust me, Cap. From what I've seen this "Grail" is well protected ... very, very well protected.
Johanna: I ken ye said ye were unfamiliar with the Arthur legends of auld Earth, but ye have hit on the one thing that is at their heart, something mystical and powerful.
Clifton: Which is my point exactly. If this thing has so much power, then it might be able to get us back home. From what I hear it requires a spiritually pure person to get near to it, if you can communicate with this thing, maybe you can make it see that we don't belong here.
Johanna: looking around and lowering her voice: The grail of the legends is the Holy Grail, the cup from which Jesus of Nazareth drank at the last supper, a relic of great sanctity to Christians of the Medieval period, a relic lost in antiquity...at least it was lost on Earth. With all we have seen here, it might be here.
Clifton: I see, maybe this is some kind of parallel universe where this "Grail" was secured here in the castle.
Johanna: First, d’ye think that if it is really here, you can just touch it if ye want? Second, d’ye think that if ye did, ye could actually control it, get away with it and not be hangit or worse if ye were caught?
Clifton: Oh no, I'm quite certain that I couldn't touch it. That's why I'm bringing the idea to you. If you can reach this "Grail" then like I said, maybe you could communicate our problem?

:: Clifton listened and had to see the logic and good sense that Johanna possessed.
