Cmdr. Clifton / speaks with Welby / no tags

   ***Inside the castle ***

:: After a somewhat tense conversation with Gawain, the group dispersed and Welby stepped into a side room along with Clifton.

She wished to discuss an idea, but also guage rather or not Clifton was under some influence such as psychological control. ::

Welby: Clifton, if we can get to my medical tricorder, I can get it recharged.

Clifton: Really? How?

Welby: Medical tricorders have something other tricorders lack, it is possible that a medic might be in the field for long time periods and may not have a power source.  That's why my tricorder has a solar panel on top of the outer case, I set it in the sunlight and within a few hours I have a fully charged device.

Clifton:  Okay, all we need to do is convince Gawain that we needs our equipment and get him to agree to return it.  If you get that tricorder recharged, I can link it to my phaser and recharge that too. ::

Welby: I guess our big challenge now is convincing Gawain.  He is quite a reasonable fellow and if I use the right words, I think I can convince him.  You know, a little old fashioned politeness. ::

Clifton: Yeah, I'm sure that works wonders with these medieval  folk.

Welby: Well ... you have to admit that it is a nice change of pace from our century.

Clifton: It is? You mean like being attacked by a swamp monster? 

Welby: Which would not have happened if you had listened to Gawain and stayed in the castle.

Clifton: Well forgive me, but I like to know what's going on around me.

Welby: And it almost got you killed.  So, just who is this woman that saved you, anyway?

Clifton: Her name is Morgana, so used to live here but she told me that Gawain and others exiled her to the forest in order to put the King on the throne, now you know history as well as I do and this wouldn't be the first time someone tried that.::

Clifton: No it wouldn't, but you heard what they said.  This woman sounds evil and maybe possesses some kind of power we don't understand.  For all we know she could be an alien in disguise. 

Clifton: No, the Captain's empathic ability would allow her to sense a true human and someone who was not.  We can rule that out.

Welby: So what is she?

Clifton: Someone who healed my arm painlessly and saved me from a ... a ... whatever that was.

Welby: Yeah, and I wonder what else she did.

Clifton: Like what?

Welby: I mean, did she inject you with some kind of mind control drug?  Did she plant some post hypnotic suggestion within your mind?

Clifton: I assure you that she injected me with nothing, and I can also assure that there is nothing at all in my mind!

Welby: Yes, I've known that for a long time.
