  *** USS Odyssey / Transporter Room ***

:: With one civilian already beamed aboard, a woman named Cynthia, Clifton steadied himself to see the person whom had so long disgusted him.  Before he could really give former Senator Silva very much thought he took a good look at the civilian woman who had just beamed aboard, she looked young (maybe 30 at the most) and was quite pretty.  Her shortly cropped, curly, blonde hair seemed to perfectly accent her slightly chubby face and she was well dressed as if she were an office worker. ::

Clifton: Miss Ogelthorpe, er it is Miss isn't it?

Cynthia: Yes, Miss Ogelthorpe.

:: That had been a calculated question on Clifton's part, had she been a missus then he considered her off limits, or if she were a miz or some other title, then he would have assumed that she was most likely too unconventional for him. ::

Clifton: Miss Ogelthorpe, may I see your ID please.  It's just a formality you understand, but I am Chief of Security Clifton and I need to scan all incoming civilians for possible security threats. ::

:: She smiled and handed him the optical rod, which he inserted into the port of his tricorder.  The data than came up was just as he expected, she was a 27 year old civilian employee who had been working on a starbase and was now headed back home to the Aldeberran Colony where she lived.  She had never been in any trouble (as he expected) and was considered a model employee wherever she went. ::

Clifton: Miss Ogelthorpe, I'll be glad to escort you to your cabin.

Transporter Chief: But, sir, we have someone else waiting.

Clifton: Yes, I'd best take care of that.

:: Clifton stepped to the transporter console and opened a comm channel to the transport lounge on the base. ::

Clifton: Uh, Senator.  We're having a slight bit of trouble with our transporter.  Just give us a few minutes to adjust a few of our Korenburg Compensators.

Silva: =/\= Well hurry up!  I have a schedule to meet and I'm already upset that I have to ride on a warship.  Just make it fast. =/\=

:: The Transport Chief looked at Clifton with a very perplexed and confused expression. ::

Chief: Sir, there's no such thing as a Korenburg compensator.

Clifton: smiling : Yeah, I know.

:: With the former Senator now stewing in her own juices on the planet, Clifton used that time to be friendly with Cynthia.

Clifton: Right this way, just follow me.

:: He led her to the turbolift and then to the deck where guest quarters were located.  As they walked down the deck, Clifton made chit-chat. ::

Clifton: So, what kind of work were you doing out on that starbade?

Cynthia: Logistical Analysis, for the planned expansion next year.

Clifton: Logistical analysis? Sounds interesting, if you have any observations about Security improvements while you are our guest, don't hesitate to let me know.

Cynthia: Thanks, but I don't think I'll be on board all that long.

:: They arrived at Miss Ogelthorpe's quarters and Clifton showed her inside.  He quickly explained where the lighting controls and the environmental control panels were, as well as a few other basic things a person who was coming aboard a starship for the first time might not know.  Realizing that he would have to get back to the Transporter Room quickly, she excused himself and pointed out that the Odyssey had a state-of-the-art holodeck and that he would be more than glad to join her in any kind of program she wished. ::

:: A few minutes later he re-entered the Transporter Room and readied himself to face the former Senator.
