*** USS Odyssey / turbolift ***
* Thanks for a great JP, Mer :)
:: Clifton stopped the lift between decks and made sure they were isolated from the surveillance system.::
Clifton: Gavin, it occurs to me that we may have an advantage we are not using here, with our good friend Senator Silva.
Gavin:Aye? What would that be?
Clifton: As a Betazoid, you have empathic and I know at least some form of ESP. If you could use it to peek into our friends mind, we may learn a lot.
Gavin: Peek into her mind?
Clifton: All I'm asking you to do is briefly see what you can learn, it's not like I'm asking you to rape the woman. Then again I can't imagine anyone crazy enough to do that.
Gavin: with a sigh: Ye are asking me to "rape" her mind.
Clifton: Look! The security of the Federation could be on the line here, all I'm asking you to do is bend the rules a little.
Gavin: And who would ye like it if I just took a peek into your mind? For one thing, it is a serious ethical violation, and the other is that I am far more empathic than telepathic. Silva is not another Betazoid, so my telepathic ability is quite limited there. Oo Hannnie could do it, but I'm only good with other Betazoids oO.
Clifton: Very well then, I'll have to think of a plan B then.
Gavin: closing his eyes for a moment: Most people do have nervous responses to lying even when they're good at it. Most have negative emotional responses to people they dinna trust or dinna like. Most will have an emotional response that is telling. It doesna always have to be in words or thoughts, just emotional responses. THOSE are not considered especially private.
Clifton: Okay, I'll keep that in mind.
Gavin: I dinna have a great problem with mentioning her emotional responses. Can that be helpful?
Clifton: Well ... yeah, it might be. I'll be sure to include you in any conversations I have with this woman. I guess I just never thought it was something you would have such a problem with.
Gavin: Think about it. What would you be feeling if you were plotting something? It's not the plan but... I suspect that ye would find it awkward if everyone knew your emotions, aye?
Clifton: Hmm, I suppose I would. Lord help me if a few women on board knew what I am thinking when I see them walking down the corridor.
Gavin: Just so ye ken what the limits are, we can help each other. How about that drink?
Clifton: Okay, let's head down to the bar and have a few. We're both off duty at the moment, so we have some time.
