Emma stayed hidden behind a seat in the Gryphon, but the sizzle of phasers and disruptors, the screams and shouts of the combatants, and unfamiliar smells were pervasive and suffocating. Until now, it had all been a game to her. Shed never dreamed it would be so scary. The Gryphon rumbled as repeated blasts from the fighters struck the ground around them. She heard her dad shout at Mac and peeked around the seat, hoping to see the familiar blonde hair and ready smile run through the opening. But all she saw was chaos. Tears welled in her eyes, but she swallowed them back. Shed be brave for them; shed show them she wasnt a snotty little kid.

Emmas eyes swept the floor then the open locker and saw tools. She jumped towards something that looked like a wrench and grabbed it, then scrambled back to her place behind the seat. She hefted it in her hand, adjusting to the weight of it. Just let one of those old mean Breens come in here, she growled. Ill bonk him on the head.
