Ooc: Kim, Im so sorry I missed this.
Gaby blew out the breath shed been holding and felt her shoulders sag. Has there been any word from the Captain any news at all about the mission? It would have been easy to be consumed with her concerns, but Gaby was also worried about the away team. The Captains people were down there risking their lives to save others people he cared very much for.
"No, not yet. We just have to wait. I certainly hope everything will be alright with your husband."
As do I, she whispered and sipped at her water.
"Ah, may I ask how you and he met?"
A wistful smile spread slowly across her face. A piece of his ship fell off and landed on my club, destroying part of it, her eyes gazed off into space and a short laugh escaped. I was furious to say the least and stormed past Starfleet security and everyone else to confront him. Can you imagine that? her eyes moved back to Benton.
"It's hard to imagine, but I guess it did happen, then." He smiled; it did remind him of Rae.
I threw my shoe at him and realized too late that Id stepped into the lions den. Me and my temper, her laugh was bittersweet. I think I fell in love with him that first moment our eyes met. I kept finding excuses to see him, to spend time with him, even if it was fighting over something, at least we were together. I had a friend sneak me aboard his ship when he left I just couldnt bear the thought of life without him . . . Gabys voice trailed off.
Tom paused for a moment. Life without Rae had been hard to imagine, and hard to adjust to, but he'd had no choice. He was supposed to the Counselor, here, as well as the doctor, but he didn't quite know what to say. He thought for a moment.
"Yes, life without one's beloved is hard to imagine; it seems impossible to bear, at first, but life does go on. One has a choice of withdrawing from life or continuing to participate in life. I hope all is well with your man. Tell me, what is he like?"
A melancholy smile formed slowly as Gaby thought about Dghor. Hes so very brave and honorable. I think I knew from the very beginning that I loved him. I threw my shoe at him the first time we met, she laughed lightly. Can you imagine that? He was furious, of course, but I had no idea he was injured.
[Benton]
Yes, there had been some sort of accident with the Vorn so many of his crew had been injured. I was just so furious, though, because a piece of his ship had fallen off onto my club and destroyed one section of it. I have a bit of a temper, her nose wrinkled mischievously. Then there was the mafia down on the Outpost, and I was beholden to them. Dghor hated them, she stared into nothing. His Klingon honor, she said and the pride in her voice was obvious. I loved him all the more for that, I think. And when I found out he was leaving, Gaby swallowed around the lump in her throat and reached out for the doctors hand. Tears welled in her eyes and ran down her cheeks. I had someone sneak me aboard just before they left orbit.
[Benton]
Oh, yes, he was furious with me. He had me tossed into the brig, she sighed and closed her eyes. But the making up was wonderful, and then he took me as his mate. And I have been very proud to be his mate, her hand went to her stomach. And the mother of his child.
