Yes, there had been some sort of accident with the Vorn so many of his crew had been injured. I was just so furious, though, because a piece of his ship had fallen off onto my club and destroyed one section of it. I have a bit of a temper, her nose wrinkled mischievously. Then there was the mafia down on the Outpost, and I was beholden to them. Dghor hated them, she stared into nothing. His Klingon honor, she said and the pride in her voice was obvious. I loved him all the more for that, I think. And when I found out he was leaving, Gaby swallowed around the lump in her throat and reached out for the doctors hand. Tears welled in her eyes and ran down her cheeks. I had someone sneak me aboard just before they left orbit.
Tom just smiled and squeezed her hand. Sometimes, words were inadequate. Inwardly, he remembered Rae.
Oh, yes, he was furious with me. He had me tossed into the brig, she sighed and closed her eyes. But the making up was wonderful, and then he took me as his mate. And I have been very proud to be his mate, her hand went to her stomach. And the mother of his child.
Tom did a quick scan. "Yes, and, so far, a very healthy child."
The wattage of her smile could have lit up the room. Good, she breathed.
"So, did you go through the Klingon marriage ceremony? I suppose D'Ghor's family accepts you?"
No, she lowered her head, there just hadnt been time.
A medic came up and handed Tom a note. "Miss Rousseau, I have made enquiries, and the news is that your husband is alive and well and with the away team, at present."
Gabrielles heart nearly leapt out of her chest, but she collapsed back into the pillows with relief. Oh, thank you, she whispered and tears welled in her eyes again.
Takahashi, Mac, Emma, and Merak shimmered as their bodies were transported from the Gryphon to the Falcons infirmary.
When notification of patients from the combat scene was received, Tom immediately excused himself and ran to see to their care. His staff was competent and had all four in the proper biobeds when he got there. He examined each one and prescribed for the necessary health care. Probably his senior medic, Chief Wilkes, could have done it, but it required an M.D.'s presence and formal approval. They were all Tom's responsibility.
To tell the truth, he was surprised to see Emma, whom regarded as a non-combatant child, coming in from the combat scene. What had she been doing there?
And, he supposed the XO was now in command, at least until the CO was released from the sickbay.
As soon as the biobeds materialized in front of her, Mac began shouting orders. Doctor! she looked around and found the new physician. Captain Carson has been hit.
BP is 110 over 60 and falling, Nikito quoted, heart rate is 69, he ripped his vest off so he could assist more if the doctor needed him.

Mac picked Emma up into her arms and stepped aside for the doctor. There was so much blood too much. Emma was reaching out for her father, struggling to get to him.
Dad! she shouted in a strangled cry, and Mac hugged her tightly as they watched medical personnel work over Merak.
Mac turned with her towards the doors; she had to get Emma out of here and away from the blood and the sights and sounds. Maybe it was for herself, too. Thoughts of losing Merak ripped her up inside and brought her pain like shed never experienced before.
The doors swooshed open softly as Mac strode out with Emma weeping in her arms. She kissed her temple and knelt with her. Emma, you know your father loves you, her lips remained pressed against Emmas head.
The dark head nodded but only sobs came from her.
Hes strong, baby. If anyone can pull through this, it will be your father. We have to believe that, ok? A salty drop fell onto Emmas hair, and Mac finally realized it was her own tears. She tapped her commbadge and cleared her throat. Bridge, has the Gryphon made it back yet?
