A Post By Colonel Jayson Nevin & Captain (RET) Merak Carson

Six months had past since the crew of the Falcon returned after their first successful mission. At least that the way it was perceived by Starfleet command and the Federation. The rescued Romulan hostages where transported to the summit site and talks began between the three major factions of the Alpha Quadrant. Yet or the crew personally it was far from a successful mission. First and foremost their Captain, Merak Carson was injured during their escape. He survived from his injuries but at a coast of his commission. Command forced him into early retirement due to them claiming he was no longer fit for duty.

However this was fine for Merak seeing it gave him more time to spend with his daughter Emma. Now Merak did not go into retirement without a fight. He forced his hand and called in a few favors t keep the crew together and gives him choice in who he could name as his replacement. There was only one person that Merak could trust his crew to and this is how an old friend of his was promoted to take over.

However fate was not done with Falcon and her crew. While in dry dock damage to her core was more sever then they had previously thought and she went in to critical overload. Luckily it was only a skeleton crew working over night and most made it off the sip alive before the core breached. Several of the engineering crew stayed till the final moment trying to save the ship but nothing worked since most of the systems where off line. The explosion not only destroyed the ship ad dry-dock but took the lives of twenty officers and enlisted personal.

The news ripped through the crew causing some to retire them selves off or be transferred to other ships when there ship was lost. For Merak it hit him really hard, seeing she was his first command. After that is took three more months to see what was going to happen of the crew of Falcon. Soon with some help and a few more strings pulled, a replacement ship was found.

Merak youve got to be joking with me, I was never like this idea from the beginning and thought that once Falcon was destroyed that I would not have to worry about this anymore.

Sorry old friend this come straight from the top, your still taking command of the Falcon. Merak answered him.

Yeah that was the old Falcon buddy. Nevin commented on the other end of the com.

Look Jayson, youre the best there is at what you do, and the only one I can trust to take care of my crew and help keep them together.

Yeah thank for putting that on my shoulders. Jayson said pinching the bridge of his nose. You just had to go get hurt and forced into retirement like this didnt you. Jayson groaned.

Like I ad anything to do with that, you think I wanted to have this happen to me. Merak responded. Look Jayson, she a good ship and a good crew. Falcon-A is what the Bruin system needs and youre the right man to take command.

Jayson sat there in his study in his home on Bajor and shook his head. The veteran Marine Colonel was never trained to take command of a starship but it was not like he could not do the task. It was just that he was a solider, but orders where orders and he was never one to turn them down. He took a deep breath and looked at his friend in the monitor.

Alright Merak, since its you that asked Ill take the assignment. Jayson finally agreed.

I know I could count on you Jayson. Merak said with a smile. Shes scheduled to arrive at DS-9 in a few weeks. Ill contact the acting captain and let him know to expect you at DS-9.

Yeah thanks for that. Jayson responded. Just expect a few calls now and then for advice.

Once again thanks Jayson. Merak said with a smile. And Jayson, congratulation.

Yeah, yeah. Jayson said shaking his head and switching off the comm. Channel. How the hell do I let you talk me into these things?

<--------------->

The weeks had past quickly for Jayson as he awaited Falcon to arrive. He spent to time getting his things in order at his place and going over files on the crew. He could see by their files the reason that Merak wanted t keep them together. Their first mission they worked perfectly as team and that was a plus.

Twenty four hours before the arrival of Falcon, Jayson had his things shipped up to DS-9, as well as catching a shuttle to the station. He took up some guest quarters for the night and waited.

The next morning, Jayson was found on the upper level of Quarks Bar drink some coffee and looking over the last of the crew files. There was still the issue of finding an XO, and he was not sure who was qualified or who was staying aboard to take the job. Only after he got aboard would he be able to answer this question.

He set that PADD down and looked over their orders which where fairly simple task. Transfer Falcon to the Bruin system and lend aid to the colony there. Fairly simple task all together but Jayson had been apart of Starfleet long enough to know that anything that seems simple never usually is.

~Station Ops to Colonel Nevin.~

Nevin here go ahead. Jayson answered after tapping his badge.

~Sir, was told to inform you that Falcon just dropped out of warp and will be docking in fifteen minutes.~

Very good. Jayson answered finishing his coffee and getting up. Inform the acting Captain that I will meet them at the dock, Nevin out.

Jayson left his table and stated heading to the docking collar where Falcon was scheduled to be at. He walked the promenade upper deck and could see the ship off in the distance approaching. He stopped and looked at the window and watched her approach the station. Once docked he moved towards the docking ring and to meet his crew.
