Asa project leader, you are always looking for ways to optimize your workflow and get the most out of your team. You may have heard of Oracle Primavera P6, or been asked to use it as part of contracted work and wondered if it is really worth the investment.
There are many benefits that come with using Primavera P6 for project management. Perhaps the most obvious benefit is the fact that Primavera P6 provides users with powerful tools for planning, scheduling, and resource management. But what does that actually mean? And how is it going to support your delivery teams in getting your project done?
Yes, really! OK, there is a little learning curve, but anyone who has used enterprise scheduling tools before will find it relatively straightforward to move the user-friendly interface and easy-to-use menus.
Primavera helps organizations optimize their portfolios and improve decision-making. It includes dashboards and reports that present information in a way that is truly useful for project teams. It also provides the ability to track and manage multiple projects simultaneously, which is helpful if you are managing a large program or portfolio of work and need the big picture view.
Schedules are only as good as the data you feed into them, but Primavera P6 is built from the ground up to make it as easy as possible to create robust, compliant schedules. It can help you improve your project scheduling. With its powerful scheduling tools, you can create more accurate schedules that take into account all of the factors that can impact your project.
For example, did you know that you can upload expenses costs from Excel into Primavera? It integrates with Deltek Cobra as well. Integrations make it easier to share data and information between different departments and teams. The standard format also makes it easy to export and share with clients and other contractors.
In addition to integrations with other tools, there are a huge range of extra powerful features available through Primavera Unifier. Unifier is a business workflow engine amongst other things. It offers top-down and bottom-up visibility for planners and project managers and cashflow capabilities across the portfolio lifecycle.
Schedules are inherently risky, so why not use the best possible tool to surface and mitigate that risk? The more controlled your project, the more likely it is that risks will be identified and addressed earlier.
A robust schedule will already have provision made to help mitigate project risk, because it will be vertically and horizontally integrated. It should represent all the work required to deliver the project so nothing falls through the cracks. The powerful scheduling engine that is the heart of Primavera P6 makes it easy to set your schedule up for success.
The benefits of using Primavera P6 include improved project visibility, better control over projects, and increased efficiency. If you are looking for ways to improve your project management workflow, investing in Primavera P6 may be a good option for you.
Eating a handful of walnuts tastes great, and is a heart-healthy addition to your diet. For over a decade, researchers have shown diverse benefits of this whole food through many clinical studies. Due to the strength of evidence supporting cardiovascular health, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the first ever qualified health claim for a whole food in March of 2004.
Walnuts can be a nutritious choice for people with diabetes. A study published in 2004 reported the effect of a moderate-fat diet, inclusive of walnuts, on blood lipid profiles in patients with type-2 diabetes. The walnut group achieved a 10% reduction in LDL cholesterol.
A study evaluating the effect of dietary alpha-linolenic acid (ALA/omega-3s) provided by walnuts and flaxseed, on bone turnover found bone health improved with ALA consumption in a clinical research study published in the January 2007 issue of Nutrition Journal. 1
(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?
How often would you upgrade your P6 to the latest version? I know people that refused to upgrade and they are still using P6 v6 and it works perfect for them. They are basically doing the same job I am doing with my v15.2. It appear that primavera makes its money from the yearly support fee but is it really worth it to pay for the year support after the first year you are required to buy. At the current rate, the yearly support fee will buy a new P6 licensce in the 5th year. Would you pay for the support on a yearly basis or buy a new P6 license every 5 years. What do you think
I dont forsee any of the items listed ever been a major issue. I would prefer not to do a regular ugrade unless we absolutely have to. Maybe upgrading from P3 to P6. The only benefit I see to the yearly support is the ability to talk directly to oracle agents. Most of my P6 issue can sometime be troubleshooted with google.
4. CON fall if you have written any in-house P6 training manuals they will have to be re written based on the new features especially if you are using scren shots in your manuals. This is a huge undertraking.

In the UK rail infrastructure industry, the ability to effectively plan and manage projects is essential to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the network. The P6 Primavera Planning system is a powerful tool that has become increasingly popular in recent years, providing a range of benefits for rail managers looking to optimise project planning and execution.
One of the key benefits of the P6 Primavera Planning system is its ability to manage complex project schedules easily. This aspect is vital in the rail industry, where projects often involve multiple stakeholders, resources, and critical deadlines. The system enables rail managers to break down large projects into smaller, more manageable tasks with detailed timelines and resource allocation. This tool helps to ensure that all stakeholders are aligned and that all necessary resources are available when required, reducing the risk of delays or overspending.
Another significant advantage of the P6 Primavera Planning system is its ability to provide real-time visibility and control over project progress. The system enables rail managers to track progress against key performance indicators, such as cost, time, and quality, and identify potential issues early on. This visibility allows managers to make informed decisions, adjust project plans as required, and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
The P6 Primavera Planning system also includes a powerful risk management tool. The system enables managers to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimise their impact. This tool is essential in the rail industry, where safety is paramount, and failure to identify and mitigate risks can have significant consequences.
One of the most significant benefits of the P6 Primavera Planning system is its ability to improve collaboration and communication between project stakeholders. The system provides a centralised platform for project information, enabling all stakeholders to access the same information and communicate in real-time. This centralised view helps ensure that everyone is aligned and that all stakeholders work towards the same objectives, reducing the risk of miscommunication or misunderstanding.
The P6 Primavera Planning system also provides various analytical and reporting tools, enabling rail managers to gain insight into project performance, identify trends, and make informed decisions. The system allows managers to generate detailed reports, dashboards, and charts, providing a comprehensive view of project progress and highlighting any areas that require attention.
