Monday, August 25th:
USNC is pleased to announce that MassCreative and other local arts orgs are hosting a Mayoral Forum on Arts & Culture at Warehouse XI from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Candidates Jake Wilson, Willie Burnley Jr., and Katjana Ballantyne will be led in discussion by WBUR arts and culture reporter Amalie Mason of WBUR about their visions for the creative workforce and economy in the City of Somerville. If you are a USNC member who is an artist, an arts administrator, or a supporter of the arts, you are invited to attend. Saturday August 23rd & Sunday August 24th:
Ratchella 2: The Squeakening. This is the second year of Ratchella, Union Square’s own DIY, multimedia music festival. Come join the mischief August 23 and 24, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 321 Washington Street, Somerville. Tickets for each day are $32.50. A two day pass is $57.50. And the “Very Important Rat” two-day pass is $112.50 and includes extra support to the artists, a signed festival poster, and t-shirt. Ongoing through Sunday August 24th:
Online auction to benefit the Central Street Studios Preservation campaign. Central Street Studios is raising funds to help the Arts and Business Council of Greater Boston purchase their studio space at 57 Central Street. The four story building has been home to affordable studio space for dozens of artists for over 20 years, and this campaign will help preserve that into the future. Check out the auction here.
