Position:           Wintel Admin

Location:          Washington DC

Duration:          6 months

 

Description:

Install, configure, and troubleshoot Microsoft 2000/2003 servers and other Microsoft products in bank headquarters and local offices.

Install, configure and troubleshoot Bank standard hardware and firmware (currently HP Proliant)

Participate to the evaluation of server hardware and peripherals as well as OS and patches for different applications

Provide assistance and support to IT staff in the different regions and end-users when necessary

Provide support for server backup & monitoring

Participate to the response team on a regular basis to monitor and resolve server/users problems

Coordinate with different technology vendors to resolve problems

In concurrence with IT staff in the regions, review on a regular basis overall call-volume, capacity requirements, upgrades if needed.

Coordinate with business unit and IT staff in regions proposals for upgrade and or implementation of new technologies/services as well as procurement of hardware and software

Occasionally provide one-on-one training orientation for IT staff in the regions and traveling IT staff

Provide training and orientation for new staff in the group when needed

Citrix/Metaframe administration

Patch management and security administration for Windows servers.

 

4.      Skill Set requirements:

 The candidate should have at least 5 years of experience managing Microsoft Windows systems with proven involvement in operations requiring for stringent uptime service levels. The candidate should also be a team player with strong technical and user support skills.

The candidate is expected to possess the necessary skills to serve as the highest level of Windows administration and support in the organization. Escalation from this level is only to the vendor, so the candidate will have deep familiarity with the Windows Operating System to the level of kernel support and device drivers and be able to perform remote administration and troubleshooting.

Experience working in large networks and familiarity with networking devices including switches, hubs and routers

Ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems independently as well as in collaboration with a team.

Proven ability to write and maintain technical documentation & procedures

Detail oriented with ability to QA his own work

Proven analytical ability, strong writing and communication skills

 

5.      Selection Criteria:

 Microsoft MCSE and or equivalent 3 years experience supporting a large installation of Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 servers

HP Proliant certification and/or equivalent experience supporting a large installation

Client Server certification and/or equivalent experience supporting a large installation

Familiarity with the following is a plus:

1.      Active Directory Management including: user management, GPOs, building domains & forests

2.      IIS, SMS and  Lotus Notes

3.      Programming and scripting experience, preferably in Visual Basic

4.      Citrix/Metaframe administration

5.      Patch management procedures for windows operating systems

6.      Veritas Volume Manager
