JD for Vertex:
1. Application Support & Incident Management
• Handle L1/L2/L3 support tickets related to SAP–Vertex integration.
• Troubleshoot tax determination issues across Sales & Distribution, Materials Management, and Finance modules.
• Analyze logs, RFC connectivity, and API calls between SAP and Vertex.
• Ensure timely resolution as per SLA and document RCA.
2. Vertex Configuration & Maintenance
• Maintain and configure Vertex O Series (or Vertex Cloud) settings including:
o Taxability rules
of Jurisdiction codes
3. Thorough Hands-on the following Vertex functionalities:
Corporate Tax Accounting Solution
- Hyperion Tax Provision – used to automate the tax provision at the
ORU/Legal Entity and global consolidated levels;
- Hyperion Tax Governance – used to automate collection, tracking, and
reporting of Uncertain Tax Positions, Tax Cash Flow, Deferred Tax Asset
Recognition, and some other tax accounting processes that require a flexible data
collection template distributed and collected via workflow (and integrated with the
tax provision);
- Hyperion Financial Management (limited use licenses, required for
Hyperion Tax Provision);
- Financial Data Quality Management Enterprise Edition (ETL tool used
to load the above applications).
o Product tax codes
o Exception rules
• Manage regular updates (e.g., tax content updates).
4. Integration Monitoring & Troubleshooting
• Monitor RFC queues, IDocs, CPI/PI interfaces (if in scope).
• Support error resolution in real time transactions (e.g., billing, PO creation, goods movement).
• Work with BASIS and Integration teams on connectivity or certificate issues.
5. Testing & Release Management
• Perform unit testing, regression testing, and UAT support for:
o Vertex updates
o SAP enhancement deployments
• Prepare test scripts and maintain testing documentation.
7. Stakeholder & User Collaboration
• Work closely with Business Teams (Finance, Tax, Sales, Procurement).
• Provide end-user training and knowledge-transfer sessions.
• Coordinate with Vertex support for escalations.
8. Functional Skills
• Strong understanding of SAP tax architecture in SD/MM/FI.
• Hands-on experience with Vertex O Series, Vertex Cloud, or similar tax engines.
Knowledge of tax laws and GST/VAT/Sales & Use Tax concepts.
