PROJECT BACKGROUND
The client is seeking contracting services to build a new Microsoft Active Directory Forest and single AD Domain. AD is the authoritative source for all internal and external users for client’s network. The new domain will need to conform to all Microsoft best practices and provide for the current and future needs of client. Existing resources will need to be migrated and tested from the current domain to the new structure.
PROJECT PURPOSE / OBJECTIVES
Success of this project will result in; a new MS AD Forest and Domain structure being built utilizing MS best practices, with all existing resources migrated from the old to the new domain, fully tested, and with users retaining access to all data and applications for the duration of the project.
EXISTING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The current domain managed by client is a single Forest, single domain. The current forest functional level is 2008, domain functional level is 2008 R2. There is a standard OU structure based on geographic location of our offices, with users and computers at the various locations existing in their respective OU’s. Group Policy objects are applied as necessary at both the domain and OU levels. All domain controllers are running Windows 2012 R2.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
Consultant should have worked on similar designs on networks of similar or larger in size and complexity. Consultant should have proven and demonstratable experience in this area. All work will be performed on site. Project deliverables should include;
Analysis of the current domain structure
Build out new Forest/Domain structure
Migrate existing resources
Test to ensure application and data availability
Deploy/cut over to new environment
Documentation and knowledge transfer throughout the project
During production deployment/cutover to the new domain structure, some work may need to be performed outside of traditional M-F 9-5 hours.
