Layout Dragging

I've decided to make the plunge into Layout for a project. I'm working
on a small bookcase that i'm layout out for construction documents in
layout.

I'll tell you so far it sucks. Things seem to be draggin a bit.
Everytime I try to drag a SU window it hangs for a significant amount
of time. Resizing windows the same. I've already had a bunch of
crashes and it's killing me

Any thoughts, hits or suggestions for making this a useable tool for
me would be greatly appreciated.
