I have created scenes and began importing images into pages (in
Layout.)
2 of the 3 came across as set in sketchup.
The third scene imports but displays model in darkness, not shadow, as
trees in scene etc cast no shadow (thought this is not the case in
sketchup!)
I have revised the view and created another scene (via open with
sketchup) and displays the correct lighting levels/shadow settings.
Save and return to layout model in darkness.
None of the setting differs from the initial 2 scene imports.
Now at a bit of a loss.
With kind regards

Have you checked whether the trees (guess components) are set to cast
shadows in SU? Well, I think they must for you said the scene is all
right.
Are they 2D trees (with transparent alpha channel png-s)?
Gai...
The trees are not the issue as the whole model is in darkness.
No shadow as such is displayed

To tell the truth, it is kind of hard from here without having the
model itself in my LO.

Thanks for the swift reply!
I returned to SU and created another scene from one that works (Your
suggestion of a setting adjusted in the non functional model)
Returned to LO add page, insert new scene! (Wait for it) still black.
Click back to previous page (one that was black previously) now OK!
Another weird one. Not the first and I am sure it will not be the last.
Thanks again for your help on this matter
With kind regards
BUGS.
