Texture to a twisted plane or area (shade sail)

to Google SketchUp Help - Layout (Pro beta)

Very new to Google sketch up, and I've been trying to work out how to
put a texture or just paint something with various high and low points
and at the same time get the twist look that you get with a strechy
material????
