Does anyone know how to have the measurements that are visible in
SketchUp transfer to Layout along with the drawing? All that appears
in Layout is my floorplan, no dimensions to be found!

You have added the dimentions in SU, use a font like arial, and 5
points size, then when you have the view desired, create a scene (or
page) in sketchup, then save your model, from file menu use the "Send
Model to Layout" command, and must place your model with the
dimentions included. if not, try to update your style in the SU model,
the save and update the scene in layout with a right click (last
layout version).

Yes, you should change the dimension from point size to inches. This
can be done in the entity info box, after you select the text or in
the model info , globally for all text. If you know the scale you
plan to use on your drawings, say 1/4" to 1'-0", and you want you text
to be 1/8" in height. Then the text in the model needs be 48 times
1/8" = 6" in height.

I have found the most successful method is to have a layer for each
elevation or plan in SketchUP(SU) and place the dimensions for each
LayOut(LO) intended view in those layers. This means that you have to
have a 'view' set up in SU for each viewport in LO too.

This means that the dimensions will not be visible for all LO
viewports. For instance; if you are drawing a house and have front and
rear elevations, the dimensions will clash as you will see the dims
for both the front and rear in both elevation view in LO.

The dimensioning methodology in LO is far too basic to be everyday
useable as you have to do workarounds, such as the one above, to use
it effectively.

Hi flame, as you describe the technique to put each view into scenes with a layer containing the dimensions is the best way to easily send the models to layout, check the attached file, are you using the “Add hidden layer” script is useful to me.

Hi Erick

That is pretty much it.

I havn't been able to open the file in LO yet though. I got a zip file
with a whole bunch of .xml files attached.
