Edge styles in Layout

When I place a Sketchup model in Layout the edge styles are lost. Can
anyone confirm whether this is a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I set the edge style as "By Material" and it is coloured in Sketchup.
I cut and paste the model to Layout and all edge styles are gone, just
black lines again.

Well, yes, if you copy/paste, the edge style won't remain as it is in
the model.

However if you insert the model from the File menu, the edge style
remains - the problem then is that it inserts the background, too
(i.e. the whole skp file, not just the model in it).
