I've got a family where the parents are both lectors and the teenage daughter leads Children's Liturgy of the Word. The parents always want to be scheduled together - and complain if they're not - but the daughter never wants to be scheduled when her parents are (because she wants to stay and hear them).

So far, I've marked "schedule the family together" because there are more lectors, and ended up manually rearranging a lot of the CLOW schedule to take the daughter off her parents' dates. Anyone have a better strategy for this?

Hi Laura,

Thank you so much for reaching out!

In this case, I would highly suggest sending in your data files (Help - Send Data Files to Tech Support) to allow support to take a look and help out with this. Because there are so many ways your database could be set up, and so many settings that could interfere with potential solutions, being able to see the exact settings and look at the exact family will allow us to make sure the answer we give you will work for your specific situation.

That being said, when we go about solving this, we will both need to:
  1. make sure the parents are somehow grouped to not be split as Lectors (either in the Ministry settings if subdivisions are not being used or using a Team to always keep them together if subdivisions are being used)
  2. and then make sure one of the parents and the daughter are never scheduled together, likely using the babysitter function.
We will keep an eye out for your files so we can be sure that whatever method we use to accomplish both of the objectives above works for your setup!

I’d love to know the summary of the solution to this problem.  Very interesting.  I would think the babysitter function would be the answer.
