Dear Friends,

I hope your communities had a blessed, beautiful Easter weekend.

Like many of you, we were saddened to hear the news of Pope Francis' passing, and wanted to offer a resource that might be helpful this week — or any time your church gathers to mark a significant moment.

  • If you ever need to plan a one-time service or gathering where volunteers are needed, here's a quick article on adding a "one time only" service to an existing schedule.

  • For example, at my own parish, the MSP admin just created a one-time service called Mass for Pope Francis on Wednesday, and included the number of each ministry position needed. He used MSP to send an announcement asking for volunteers to sign up. I'll share the message below in case the wording is ever helpful for you.

It was really moving to see how quickly these slots filled up — and so soon after the services of Holy Week. 💚

For the times you're planning a memorial, vigil, or any one-time service, we hope this tool supports you and your volunteers when it's most needed. 🙏

Peace,
Krista

P.S. Here's that announcement for a one-time service this week, as an example. Note: The {{AllAvailablePositions}} token was set just to the date of the special service, and can be fully customized.

Sample Announcement

Dear {{FirstName}},

For all looking for a time and place to pray — for Pope Francis, for the Church, for the world — in community, we'll be gathering for a Mass for Pope Francis at (insert church name) on (date) at (time).

All are welcome to join us. If you feel called to serve in ministry for this special service, we are in need of (insert ministry roles). All positions have been added to Ministry Scheduler Pro.

Thank you,
(Scheduler Name)

Hello Krista,
How do I make an announcement? I would like to make up like one in the sample you sent with the one-time service.

Thanks,
Mary Ellen

Hi Mary Ellen,

I would love to help you with this! We have a video on Creating Announcements, but the simple steps are:
  1. Go to the Announcements pane
  2. Click the green + in the upper right and select Email
  3. Enter in the subject line and body of the email (This is where you can copy and paste Krista's message and update with your church information!)
  4. Click Preview
  5. Set your token options and click OK
  6. Preview the email by clicking in a volunteer name to see what they will see
  7. Click Send
If you need any additional help, just send in your data files (Help - Send Data Files to Tech Support) and we would love to assist you!
