Can anyone remind me how to get the tokens to actually work when they are cut and pasted into the subject line? For the past two mass emails, the token itself, {{FirstName}}, has appeared in my subject line, which defeats the entire purpose of having it. Grr!

Thanks!

Using version 5.2 in Windows Vista, this is what works for me.

In the body of the message use the {{Token}} menu to insert the token of
your choice. With your mouse select the entire token. Drag and drop
the token from the body to the subject line. Inserts spaces as needed
before/after token.

Yes. That's what I did, though I use XP. It's like I need to refresh
it or something.

The same thing happened to me. I did a copy and paste, though. I'll try a
test drag and drop and see what happens.

I use Windows XP and the subject line tokens work most of the time.

It seems to help to completely wipe out the subject line and then
enter the subject. One method that seems to work is to copy the
subject with token to the clipboard, delete the subject entirely, and
then paste it back.

I think MSP needs to investigate this issue.

Thanks, but I did that, too. It still didn't work.

Here's why everyone is seeing inconsistant results using tokens: you
MUST keep the token in the body of the email in order for it to appear
in the Subject line. Dragging a token from the body to the subject
line is the same as cut and paste, and will not work. Try this test:
insert four tokens in the email body, drag two of them up and COPY the
other two. Only the two tokens that are also in the email body will
correctly show the field values.

This means that your emails may read a bit goofy if you are using
several tokens in the Subject line, but that's the way it works (for
now). Perhaps you can something at the bottom of the email that says
"Tokens used:..." and list them. Or you can be really creative by
listing the tokens at the bottom and then change their color to white,
which should hide them in the email.

Hope this helps out.

Hello Jennie and others,

Thanks for the discussion regarding tokens in the subject lines. I can
confirm that in order to insert a token in the subject, it must also be
contained in the body of the email. This will be fixed in the next
version of MSP, due out very shortly, so that you do not need to include
the token in the body of the email to have it evaluated correctly in the
subject field.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback regarding this issue.
